I guess it was used to run the guide for a reason, as it is probibly buggy and crash prone to begin with.

What could that reason be though? why didn't they use the same OS as on the 128k system disc?

the older system was probibly smaller, so they could fit the guide on the same disk. It could also have been considered stable enough for it's designed purpose. It could have also been that the GM for the guide was needed for duplication before the system software was?

just a few theroies of mine.
