Springs have feelings too. They lust for deep pile carpets, home heating air duct grills, and the strong embrace of the rare earth magnet that supplies the field for the head actuator. If that spring got loose when the zip drive was accidentally dropped, you might find that it is having an intimate affair with the actuator magnet. [So without the spring there's nothing that can be done?(I can't hear the spring rattling around inside, so presumably it's been lost previously)
