well, it's an interesting idea..and I think another way to get older macs to still be useful..

If somebody sets a date, i'll boot into 9 and 'tune in' with LW , so to speak.

However, what I noticed in the past, is that when it searches Gnutella, it only samples a small portion of the network..and appears to require a restart to sample a different portion..i.e. a few times it would show my own files in the search results, and kept doing it until I restarted it.

It may take quite a few attempts to actually *find* someone else who is definitely online with an older version.

The comment about 'warez' is truly a sad thing, too..simply because one *can* share such doesn't automatically mean one *has* to..

although i'll admit that not only have such activities tarnished LW, but other protocols such as BT (which i've only ever used for linux distros, but indespensable for that).

As i mentioned before, i haven't used LW in some time as what's on there for apps is becoming all illegal immoral or fattening.

Frankly, i think an appleshare fileshare network would be the way to go for old macs...
