Ya, I sorta miss when it was routed to the sound output if something was plugged in. I can see with mine that would not be the case since I am using optical out anyway and no driver for that would be loaded at boot. But even when nothing is plugged in it plays on the internal. I thought this change happened about the time the switch to Intel happened.
