Installing Your Software
The following information is intended to get you up and
running as quickly as possible.

About the Aperture 3 Installation Disc
The Aperture 3 installation disc is required to install the Aperture application and
documentation. This disc contains the following files and folders:
ÂÂ Install Aperture icon: Double-click this icon to begin the installation process.
ÂÂ Documentation folder: This folder contains PDF versions of Aperture Keyboard
Shortcuts and Exploring Aperture.
ÂÂ Sample Library folder: This folder contains the Aperture 3 Sample Library file. Copy
this file to your computer. After installing Aperture, you can begin exploring the new
features in Aperture 3 immediately using the projects and images within the sample
library. For more information about importing libraries, see the Aperture User Manual,
available in Aperture Help.
Updating Mac OS X and QuickTime
Before you install Aperture, update your system software to make sure that you have
Mac OS X v10.5.7 or later installed. You also need to upgrade to the latest version of
QuickTime.
Note: For information about minimum software requirements, go to
http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs.
To update your system software
1 Choose Apple menu > Software Update.
A dialog appears showing new or updated software available for your computer.
2 If updated software is available, follow the onscreen instructions to update Mac OS X
and QuickTime to the latest versions.

Installing Aperture
When you install Aperture, the application is placed in the Applications folder on your
startup disk.
Important: For a list of the minimum system requirements to install Aperture, go to
http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs.
Note: Before you can install the software, you need to log in to your computer with
an administrator account, using the administrator password. See Mac Help for more
information.
To enter the serial number and install Aperture
1 Insert the Aperture 3 installation disc into your computer’s DVD drive.
2 Double-click the Install Aperture icon, then follow the onscreen instructions.
The installer performs a system requirements check to determine if Aperture can
be installed.
