1 Introduction
Compact Pro is a Macintosh application which lets you reduce the size of many
of the files on your computer by “compressing” the data in the files. Making
files smaller can free up valuable space on your hard disk. It can also reduce
the number of floppy disks needed to save back-up copies of important files. If
you transfer files between computers using modems, you can save time and
money by first compressing the files since compressed files usually take
significantly less time to transmit.
Compact Pro also supports “archives”. An archive is a collection of files and
