DreamLink for the PC an easy guide to the © 1998 NTS Computer Systems Ltd. DreamLink Software NTS provides the DreamLink software for both Macintosh and Windows with your DreamWriter. We recommend that you load the DreamLink software on the hard drive of your Mac or PC so that it will always be available. If your computer is connected to a network, DreamLink allows printing on the network printer or saving to the designated network drive. This software allows you to print your files from the DreamWriter through a Mac or PC directly to a printer. This is commonly referred to as a “Print Through” process. DreamLink also supports interactive file exchange with both Windows PC’s and Macintosh System 7.0 directories. This allows the user to view the directory on the peripheral device and select a file to upload or download. In addition, dedicated directories can be named for uploading from the DreamWriter, allowing the teacher to set a directory per class so that when the student uploads work, the file will be stored automatically in the directory the teacher has set. The file transfer allows for the choice of RTF format or TXT format files. RTF (Rich Text Format) format is an industry standard for word processing file transfers. Unlike a TXT file transfer, RTF file transfers will maintain special features such as bold, tabs, and underlining. When formatting is not essential or the file calls for TXT (ASCII) format (e.g. program code), you have the option to transfer or save the file in TXT format. Using a Windows PC 1.
