This Read Me alerts you to software changes and late-breaking information that was too late to include in the manual. We recommend that you print this document for easy reference and keep it with your documentation. IMPORTANT: You must run the Installer if you are installing this software on a Power Macintosh®. The Horizon 24 display card will not operate with graphics acceleration if you do not use the Installer. ---------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION ---------------------------------------------------- ROM NOTE: If you are updating your display driver software, you MUST also update the ROM. See the Read Me on the ROM Updater disk for instructions. Failure to update the ROM will retard Graphics acceleration. You may need to disable virus protection software before proceeding. 1. Insert the Horizon 24 Installer v2.0 disk into your drive and double-click the Installer icon. 2. If necessary, click Switch Disk to select your startup disk. 3. Click Install. The installer will copy the appropriate files into the System folder. 4. Restart your Macintosh after installation has completed. - 1 - ---------------------------------------------------- REMOVING THE SOFTWARE ON POWER MACINTOSH ---------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT: If you remove the Horizon 24 card from your Power Macintosh, you should de-install the software. Failure to do so will retard the graphics speed of the internal video. To remove the Horizon 24 software from a Power Macintosh: 1. Insert the Horizon 24 Installer v2.0 disk into your drive and double-click the Installer icon. 2. If necessary, click Switch Disk to select your startup disk. 3. Click Customize and select Horizon 24 software for Power Macintosh. 4. Hold the ‘Option’ key and Click the Remove button. The installer will clear the Horizon 24 software from the System folder. 5. Restart your Power Macintosh - 2 - -------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION ON A QUADRA OR CENTRIS WITH THE POWER MACINTOSH UPGRADE CARD ------------------------------------------------- To install the Horizon 24 software on a Macintosh which has been upgraded with a Power Macintosh Upgrade card: 1. Install the Power Macintosh Card and software. 2. Set the Power Macintosh Card control panel to ‘Off’. Shut down and restart the Macintosh. 3. Insert the Horizon 24 Installer v2.0 disk into your drive and double-click the Installer icon. 4. If necessary, click Switch Disk to select your startup disk. 5.
