La Cie Storage Utilities Diskette Quick Start Instructions August 1, 1996 The La Cie Storage Utilities™ diskette contains Silverlining®, Silverlining Lite, VirtualDisk™, DiskDup Pro™, and EasyLabels™. This Quick Start file describes these programs and how to install them. Please refer to the paper or online version of the La Cie Storage Utilities User's Guide for instructions to these programs. IMPORTANT: THIS RELEASE OF LA CIE STORAGE UTILITIES INCLUDES ONE DISK!!! The contents of the Silverlining Starter Kit diskette have been combined with the La Cie Storage Utilities diskette. Any references to the Silverlining Starter Kit diskette in the documentation should be substituted with the La Cie Storage Utilities diskette. Silverlining® Silverlining formats and initiliazes SCSI hard drives, SyQuest®, magneto-optical, ZIP™, and other removable cartridge media for optimum performance with your Macintosh. Silverlining can also partition, optimize, and password-protect volumes. Silverlining Lite Silverlining Lite is a control panel that formats and initilizes hard drives, and other removable cartridge media, and can be used to mount and unmount volumes and change SCSI polling preferences. Silverlining Lite is compatible with both IDE and SCSI devices used with the Macintosh. This includes IDE and SCSI hard drives, magneoptical (MO) drives, Jaz, Zip, and MCD. VirtualDisk™ VirtualDisk automatically catalogs floppies, cartridges, and other removable media. It’s your silent partner, tracking and locating every file, floppy, and removable you use. DiskDup Pro™ DiskDup Pro allows you to make one or more copies of data stored on floppies, cartridges, CDs, and other removable media. EasyLabels™ EasyLabels prints disk labels for organizing and identifying your collection of catalogued cartridges and floppy disks. Keep in mind the following before you begin installation: • You should make a backup copy of the diskette included in this package. Store the original in a safe place and proceed with the installation using the working copy you made. • If you purchased a new drive, you must complete the hardware installation process and install Macintosh System Software before you can install the utilities.
