About 3DMoles v0.1 This is a demo version only. All version after this version (having version numbers higher than 0.1) are not be Public Domain, but this demo is completely free, and may be copied freely as a complete unit with the following restriction: the application "3DMoles" may not be modified in any manner without the express written consent of T Tauri Softsystems. Future versions will be available for $49.95 (local currency), with a free upgrade policy up to version 1.0 (excluding disk costs), which should be released in mid-1987. A working version with editing abilities will be available in late January (version 0.2). This demo's animation methods are very memory intensive, and will not operate with less than about 192K of available memory. To draw all of the available molecules, almost a full megabyte of memory is required (i.e. a Macintosh Plus with the RAM cache turned off). If insufficient memory is available to draw a selected molecule, then it will appear gray in the Molecule menu. In certain cases, molecule files may be available, or have been created using later versions of 3DMoles, and can be opened from the File menu. As for all other molecules, if the items from an opened file show up in gray, then there is not adequate memory available. We have found that various peripherals can take up some memory, not just Ram disks and caches. If you have a non- standard Mac screen or configuration you should be able to use 3DMoles without problems (we have followed the standard guidelines to the best of our knowledge). Unfortunately some large screens do not seem to accept our version of what is standard, but we will do our best to correct reported problems where possible. If you enjoy this program, or find any problems with it, then please feel free to write to the address given in the About 3DMoles_ item under the _. We hope you enjoy this demonstration.
