PIE Technical Support To assist you in developing applications for the Newton platform, Apple Computer, Inc., is currently offering two levels of support for Newton developers: the Newton Developer Forum (formerly the Pioneer Program) on AppleLink and the PIE Partner Program. Beginning June 30, 1994, the Newton Developer Forum and Pioneer program will be replaced with the PIE Associates Program. Below is a short description of our current programs. We encourage you to consider these support options to enhance your ability to complete your projects. Newton Developer Forum on AppleLink: Any developer who purchases NTK (Newton Toolkit) is eligible to participate in this program . The Newton Developer Forum will give developers access to two boards on AppleLink - PIE Developer Talk, a discussion board and PIE Developer Info, a read-only board. The discussion board is an area where developers help each other by sharing tips, comments, questions and answers. PIE Developer Technical Support (DTS) regularly monitors this board. The PIE Developer Info board provides the latest tools, documentation, sample code, and Q & A's. Current Pioneer Program members are already included and need not apply. AppleLink subscribers should send a message to PIESYSOP and request Newton Developer Forum access. Developers without an AppleLink account should contact The Developer Support Hotline at 1-408- 974-4897 for information on obtaining an AppleLink account and then send a message to PIESYSOP requesting access to the Newton Developer Forum. Please note that the Newton Developer Forum and the Pioneer Program will only be available to developers through June 30, 1994. On June 30, all developers will be invited to join the PIE Associates Program, which will continue to supply you all of the services you are used to receiving from the Newton Developer Forum plus additional support and information. All Newton Developer Forum members will receive information on joining the PIE Associate Program prior to June 30, 1994. PIE Partner Program: This program is being offered through the Apple Developer Group. It is customized for Apple-selected strategic developers whose work supports Apple's long-term product and business strategies. The cost for this program is $2850(US) plus a one-time $150 start-up fee. You may join the PIE Partner Program by contacting the Developer Support Hotline at 1-408-974-4897 for an application.
