Power Book Duo System

___________________________________________________________________ Important Note: Set your PowerBook to "Stay awake when plugged in" in the portable control panel and plug in the PowerBook when using the PowerBook On-screen Commercial. ___________________________________________________________________ Getting Started: PowerBook Duo System On-screen Commercial. Step 1: Getting your system ready. • The on-screen commercial runs on all current Apple® Macintosh® computers with at least 2MB of memory and System 7.™ • If you’re running the on-screen commercial on a Macintosh PowerBook™ Duo System choose 16 gray levels in the Monitors control panel. (Note: the PowerBook On-screen Commercial has been optimized to play on grayscale displays, aviod using the PowerBook Duo System On-screen Commercial when the display is set to Black and White) • If your system is running any other screen savers or applications, quit them. Step 2: Installing the on-screen commercial. • Insert the On-screen Commercial disk. Double-click the disk’s icon to open it. • Open the On-screen Commercial folder. • Double-click the “Install On-screen Commercial” icon. • A dialog box will ask where you want to install the on-screen commercial. Install it on your hard disk. If you have more than one hard disk, install it on your startup hard disk. • A dialog box should appear that says the installation was successful. Click the OK button. If installation was not successful, try again. • Click the Restart button. Step 3: Setting your password. If you want to prevent customers from inadvertently stopping the on-screen commercial and working with files on the computer, we suggest you create a password. Set the password as follows: • After the system restarts, choose Apple Screensaver in the Application menu. • Choose Screensaver Settings in the File menu. • Enter the password of your choice. The on-screen commercial will start in one minute. It will play continuously until you stop or quit the on-screen commercial. Step 4: Stopping the on-screen commercial. Stopping the on-screen commercial returns you to the Finder™ so you can run applications or show demonstrations. • Press Command-. (Command-period) to interrupt the on-screen commercial. • Type your password in the dialog box. • The Finder will appear and you can work with other applications. The on-screen commercial will start again after the system has been idle for one minute. Step 5: Quitting the on-screen commercial. If you need to install fonts or install other applications, you’ll need to quit the on- screen commercial. • To quit, press Command-Control-Q. The Finder will appear. • To restart the on-screen commercial, either restart your system or double-click the On-screen Commercial application icon, which is in your System Folder.
