Cancelling during an installation.
-----------------------------------
If, for some reason, you wish to cancel an installation after it's started (maybe you installed color
and meant to install only black and white), use command-period to abort.
Compatibility with Easy Access
-----------------------------------
Easy Access is a Control Panel Accessory that Apple provides for those who have trouble with the
keyboard or mouse. It has several "features" that sometimes interfere with normal use of the
keyboard and mouse. In particular, if you hold the return key down for approximately 10 seconds,
the keyboard goes into SlowKeys mode, where you have to hold a key down for several seconds
before it's recognized. This might happen, for example, if you hold down the return key in the
Dragon Tunes module to listen to your "songlet" over and over again. If this happens, the keyboard
will "blip" whenever you press a key; to fix this, hold down the return key for several seconds until
it blips again.
If you have no use for any of the features of Easy Access (sticky keys, mouse keys), we suggest
that you take it out of your Control Panels folder (or for System 6 users, out of the System
folder) and reboot; this will disable it. If at any time you want to use the features of Easy Access,
simply drag it back into your System Folder, reboot, and it will be active again.
Printing problems
-----------------------------------
1. If you experience problems printing certificates, we suggest that you turn off background
printing when running Kid Keys.
To turn off background printing, do the following.
• Select the Chooser from the Apple menu
-1-
• Select the icon for the printer you are using.
• Click the Off radio button for Background Printing (note: some printers do not support
background printing, so you will not need to turn it off for those printers).
• Close the Chooser window.
To turn background printing back on, simply repeat the process of bringing up the Chooser for your
printer, but click the On radio button for Background Printing instead.
2. KidKeys remembers the color option you have chosen for your printer, and will not normally ask
you more than once. If you have chosen an incorrect color option for your printer, or you wish to
change it, please throw the KidKeys Preferences file into the trash. This file is found in the
Preferences folder inside your System Folder (for System 6 users, it is simply inside the System
Folder). A new Preferences file will be created the next time you print a certificate (giving you the
opportunity to select the desired color option for printing).
Imagewriter II
-----------------------------------
Certificates printed on an Imagewriter II color printer will only print in black and white. Color
certificates are not available with the Imagewriter II.
Powerbooks

KidKeys is not certified to run on Mac Powerbooks. You …
