SimpleText Enhancer Version 4.0 2/9/01 © 1998-2001 by Steve Becker. All rights reserved. Mail to: <simpletext@macease.com> Introduction SimpleText is a wonderfully easy-to-use program that is included with virtually every Mac. Unfortunately, it has a very limited feature set. SimpleText Enhancer adds both a substantial list of new features and a Tool Bar to SimpleText while making SimpleText even easier to use. In fact, some of the features included with SimpleText Enhancer aren't even available in most word processors and text editors! Requirements A Macintosh computer with System 7.5.3 or later (including Systems 8, 8.1, 8.5, 8.5.1, 8.6, and 9.x) and a 68020 or later processor (including PowerMacs, iMacs, G3, G4, PowerBooks, and Performas). SimpleText Enhancer requires less than 1 MB of disk space and uses only about .5 MB of RAM. While SimpleText Enhancer hasn't been tested with any System earlier than 7.5.3, I expect it will work fine going back to System 7.1. New in SimpleText Enhancer 4.0 In addition to providing quick, single-click access to many of SimpleText's features, SimpleText Enhancer 4.0 adds the following new features to SimpleText: • You can set your own keyboard shortcut for printing one copy of a file, completely bypassing the need to use your Mouse and to navigate a Print Dialog box. • Additional text styles may be selected from the SimpleText Enhancer Tool Bars. • SimpleText Enhancer's Tool Bars let you quickly move up or down through your document, one page at a time. • SimpleText Enhancer's Tool Bars include a button for quickly either viewing or hiding the contents of the Clipboard. • SimpleText Enhancer allows you to instantly capitalize the first letter of each word in a text selection. • SimpleText Enhancer allows you to quickly double space any lines that end with a single return - 1 - character. • SimpleText Enhancer will count the words in either a text selection or in the entire document. • SimpleText Enhancer will count the characters in either a text selection or in the entire document. • Both SimpleText Enhancer Tool Bars now contain two glossaries that you can customize. • SimpleText Enhancer's Balloon Help has been updated and improved. New Features in SimpleText Enhancer 3.0 Include: • The Auto-Position feature for the Tool Bar may now be turned off. • When the Auto-Position feature is turned off, a Drag button automatically appears. • The Main Tool Bar has been redesigned to take up less Desktop space -- this makes it easier to use with smaller monitors, including PowerBooks. • The Main Tool Bar has had additional text-style buttons added to it. • Alphanumeric sorts on both Tool Bars may now be made to sort from either a lower to a higher value or from a higher to a lower value. • A Speak button has been added that automatically speaks the…
