About the Apple System Software Recovery CDs This document provides an overview of the CDs and instructions on how to get the most out of them. Before installing any software from these CDs, please read this entire document and the included Terms and Conditions. Some of the documents on the Apple System Software Recovery CDs are in pdf format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view them. The Adobe Acrobat Reader can be found at http://www.acrobat.com/. All software is restricted content All software on these CDs is provided for disaster recovery and testing purposes only; you may only install software that you previously own a license for and may not use these CDs to upgrade existing systems. These CDs may not be shared on a network or otherwise used by anyone other than the authorized individuals of the Apple program you have subscribed to of which these CDs is a part. This document explains which computers each Apple System Software Recovery CD will start up and the System Software installations available on each CD. An archive of most Apple software is available on the Professional Support Website The Apple Software Recovery Archive, containing disk images of most Apple software, is available from the Professional Support Website. Apple System Software Recovery 1 CD For Power Macintosh computers before G3 Will Start Up: All Macintosh computers with PowerPC processors prior to G3 and an internal or external Apple CD-ROM drive. The System Folder on this CD is based on Mac OS 8.1. Contains System Software Installations for: All Macintosh computers with PowerPC processors prior to G3, System Software 7.1.2 through Mac OS 8.6. Apple System Software Recovery 2 CD For Power Macintosh G3 and iMac Will Start Up: All Power Macintosh G3 and iMac computers introduced before July 1999. It will not start up iMac (Slot Loading), iBook, PowerBook (FireWire), or Power Macintosh G4 computers. The System Folder on this CD is based on Mac OS 8.6. Contains System Software Installations for: All Power Macintosh G3 and iMac computers introduced before July 1999, Mac OS 8.0 through 8.6. It does not contain System Software installations for iMac (Slot Loading), iBook, PowerBook (FireWire), - 1 - or Power Macintosh G4 computers. Apple System Software Recovery 3 CD Will Start Up: All Macintosh computers with PowerPC processors and an internal or external Apple CD-ROM drive.
