REPLACING THE PEN BATTERIES
THIS PAGE REPLACES PAGE 5-4 IN THE USERS GUIDE.
The pens require two 393 silver oxide batteries. However, there
are four battery casings in the pen. You can choose to run the pen
with four batteries for longer periods between changes, or run the
pen with two batteries and keep the other two as spares. In this
case, the two active batteries must be placed adjacent to each
other. The spare batteries can be kept inside the battery casing if
you reverse the polarities. This way no contact is made and the
batteries are preserved. The average battery life is 6-12 months,
depending upon use.
WARNING: Do not use ZINC AIR batteries as
replacement batteries. They will corrode the elec-
tronics of the pen. Also, do not store the pen tip
down so that the tip is depressed. This will prevent
the pen from using the energy-saving sleep mode to
prolong battery life.
To replace the batteries:
] Unscrew the pen cap. Hold the pen from the bottom and
gently slide off the pen cover to expose the batteries.

2 Remove the old batteries by pushing a thin, pointed object
through the open slot on the bottom of the battery casing ( see
the figure inset).
3 If you wish to use four batteries, position the batteries as they
are shown in the figure.
If you wish to use two batteries, you must position the batteries
in slots 1 and 2 OR in slots 3 and 4 (see the figure). Remove the
remaining battery pair, or reverse the polarities for the pair.
4 Replace the pen cover then screw the pen cap onto the pen.
5 Press either side button on the pen.
When you replace the pen batteries, the pen will reset
to the default frequency. If you changed the fre-
quency of the pen before replacing the batteries, you
will need t…
