nstalling SuperApple To install SuperApple, just drag it into the System folder on your startup volume. Under System 7, an alert box appears explaining that the file be longs in the Control Panels folder. Click OK and let the Finder put it in the right place. Then choose Restart from the Finder's Special menu to complete the installation. (To de-install SuperApple, remove it from the System folder and restart.) using Super Apple Open the SuperApple control pane l by double-clicking its icon under System 7, or choosing the Control Panel desk accessory from the Apple menu under System 6. Make sure SuperApple is active by turning the Master Switch on. If you want to temporarily disable SuperApple without removing it from your System folder, click O ff. If SuperApple is active, you should notice that the standard Apple logo has been replaced by the animation that's highlighted in the scroll box. To change animations, just click one of the other choices in the scroll box and it takes effect right away. Also, d1e individual icons that make up the animation appear at the bottom of the window. Click the arrows at either end to see what, if anything, lies beyond the boundaries. Experiment with different animation speeds by clicking the Speed Control arrow buttons. Your choices range from Slowest to Fastest, o r you can halt the animation altogether by setting the Speed Control to Stopped. If you 're not happy with the animations built into SuperApple, why not design your own? The easiest way is to select an animation, choose Copy from the Edit menu, then paste the series of icons into a graphics application or ResEdit. Make whatever changes you like as long as the image is at least 16 pixels high with every frame exactly 16 pixels wide. Copy the finished series to the Clipboard, switch back to SuperApple, then choose Paste from the Edit menu to present a dialog box. Enter a name for your modified icons, then click OK to make them a permanent addition to SuperApple. If you change your mind, click Cancel instead. The easiest way to share your animation creations with friends is to click Export. This presents a standard file selection dialog box, giving you the opportunity to save the highlighted animation to disk with whatever name you like. Your friends can then add your animation to their collection by clicking Import and opening your file. In addition to its own file format, SuperApple can also import animations created with CursorAnimator (a popular public domain utility for editing cursors) or ResEdit (cursor resources with a type of CURS or crsr must be gathered in sequence into an animation resource type acur). Keep in mind that you can always get rid of an animation by highlighting it in the scroll box and choosing Clear from the Edit menu. Don't worry, you'll be asked to confirm that you really want to delete an entry.
