Installation:
Install the Xtools package by double clicking it in Finder. You will
need Administrator rights.
Starting Xtools for the first time:
Go to the Applications folder, and start Xtools by double clicking it
in Finder. Wait for the server to start up completely before proceding.
To test Xtools, select the "X logo" command from Xtools'
Applications menu; you should see the X logo appear in a rootless
Aqua X window
Adding applications to the Applications
Menu:
Select the 'Applications' menu, and click on 'Configure.' Click on the
'New...' button to add a new entry. A new entry named 'NewXApp'
Will appear in the 'Applications' box. Select this entry. Replace the
name 'NewXApp' with the deisired name, and enter the path to the
application in the box labled 'Application Path.' Enter any command
line options in the box labled 'Options.'
Choosing the X initialization script:
Select the 'Xtools' menu, and click on 'Preferences...'. Enter the path
to the X initialization script in the box labled '.xinitrc location'.
Underneath this is a box labled 'X Server Options'. Enter any extra X
server options here.
Notes:
The ability to close a X window by clicking the close button has been
disabled. For the time being, use kill or xkill to terminate
applications.
The OS X beta Package Installer does not include custom install
functions, therefore automated uninstall is not currently available.
Clients may be executed remotely, but this process is not automated.

To execute remotely, you have to log into the remote machine, set the
DISPLAY environment variable to the Xtools host, and start the X11
client there. Remember to allow remote clients to connect by using
the xhost + command on the server. xhost is now configurable in the
preferences panel.
Some problems have been encountered when resizing windows; only
resize windows that have focus. Windows will also often "imprint"
themselves into the space owned by other window while being
moved. This "imprint" disappears after a short time. Resizing is more
likely to cause a crash when the window is resized outside of desktop.
"Allow Remote Users" has been moved to the application Preferences
à Remote Users tab, however, if you are installing over an earlier
version of Xtools, "Allow remote users" may persist as an menu item
in the Applications menu. We suggest that you open the
"Configure…" option in the Application menu and remove it, if it is
there.
Do not change the screen resolution or color depth while Xtools is
running. It's ok to shut Xtools down, change the resolution or depth,
and then restart Xtools.
