INSTALLING ADOBE FRAMEMAKER 7.0 FOR MAC OS (FrameMaker and Structured FrameMaker Interfaces) Welcome to the Adobe® FrameMaker® document publishing software. You can use FrameMaker to create a wide range of top-quality documents, in printed form or online—books, technical manuals, reports, specifications, Adobe PDF documents, presentations, and even World Wide Web pages. FrameMaker provides all the tools you’ll need for word processing, graphics, page design, and book building. In addition, the Structured FrameMaker interface provides a powerful environment for creating and editing structured documents. ABOUT THIS README This Install ReadMe is for first-time users of FrameMaker, and users upgrading to version 7.0 on the Mac OS® platform. This guide contains the following information: • System requirements • Products available in the FrameMaker package • Instructions for installing and uninstalling FrameMaker • Information on using the Adobe Type Manager® (ATM®) Light utility PRODUCTS YOU CAN INSTALL The Adobe FrameMaker software package includes the following software: • Adobe FrameMaker (FrameMaker and Structured FrameMaker interfaces). In addition to FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat® Distiller® 5.05 is installed. Distiller lets you save FrameMaker documents as Adobe PDF files. Distiller installs the AdobePS™ print driver. • Adobe Acrobat Reader®. You can install Acrobat Reader from the FrameMaker CD. Each available language version is in a language folder in the Acrobat Reader folder. • ATM Light. You can install ATM Light 4.6.2 from the FrameMaker CD. • Quadralay® WebWorks® Publisher Standard Edition 7.0 (WWPSE7). You can install WWPSE7 from the FrameMaker CD. For information on setting up and using WWPSE7, see the WWPSE7 documentation included with your FrameMaker package. MAC OS SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS To use FrameMaker, you need the following hardware and software: • PowerPC® processor that supports the Energy Saver Control Panel (G3/G4 recommended) • Mac OS 9.0, 9.1, 9.2, OSX 10.1 (Classic Mode) • 128 MB of RAM (256 MB recommended for structured authoring) • 180-320 MB of available hard-disk space (320 MB recommended). Also check the WWPSE7 documentation for additional hard-disk space requirements. • 800 x 600 VGA monitor (1024 x 768 recommended) • CD-ROM drive • Macintosh-compatible printer (Adobe Postscript printer recommended) PREPARING TO INSTALL FRAMEMAKER Adobe Systems recommends the following preparations for installing FrameMaker in Mac OS. Before you install FrameMaker, make sure that you have sufficient memory and disk space, and that no programs are running that might conflict with the installer software. Note: If you want to use different language versions of FrameMaker on the same computer, you must install each version separately.
