NeXTStation Mono/G3 Hack
i purchased an entry level Mono from techfury90 for shipping. when i realized that i would spend about 100.00 getting the stuff i needed to run i as a NeXT machine(display, adapters, kb & mouse, etc), i decided to do a mod instead. 
i purchased a gossamer logic board, 256mb low-profile ram, 4mb vram update, 300mhz G3 cpu & low profile heat sink, micro-atx external psu, 3.5" ide hd, slot-load iMac cdrom, dremel.
the cdrom will sit on top of the hd and load through an expanded floppy hole. should line up nice. i had been planning on using a 2.5" drive, but there was more horizontal space than i planned on having, and the hd is a perfect place to perch the cdrom.
i have dremeled the screw holes, and little metal knobs and such from the inside of the case. the logic board will fit snug, but it will fit. the width was where the snugness was. dremel to the rescue.
i will have to cut the divider between to of the port holes in the back and make them one. other than cutting a wider floppy hole for the cd, that should finish the case modifications. i thought about cutting a place for a see through plexi top, but i want to maintain the NeXT appearance.
i will have to sand some scratches from the top, but i amy use the dremel to add a little pattern to cover up the sanding. then i will install OSX Server 1.2(Rhapsody 5.6) and voila, i have the NeXTStation Turbo Color they would have made if they'd been making machines in 1996.
just waiting for a few more parts. thanks to everyone in #68kmla IRC channel for helping me with some parts, and to techfury90 for the machine.

So, this isn't really my conquest, but I'm at least storing, sorting, and repairing for a piece of it. 
CC_333, his mom, dad, and mori512 helped all helped out a lot, and josefl710 paid for the whole lot. mori512 drove the truck for us. Took about an hour to load it all, and about 45 minutes unload it. So not too shabby.
There are over 100 compacts. 50+ SEs, 15 SE FDHD, 3 SE SuperDrive, 15+ Classics, 20+ SE/30s, 14 Mac Plus, 7 512k Macs (one of which is confirmed to have a SCSI upgrade), 1 Lisa 2, and 2x NeXT Cubes, and 20+ PowerBook 100 series laptops.
Probably take a year or so to recondition and sell them. I think mori512k and CC_333 have some more pictures, like when it's loaded in the truck. I'm surprised it fit in my garage.

If I were you though, I would try to get as many as the good ones as you can, and ready them by tax time.

I'm pretty overwhelmed, to tell you the truth. Still not sure how this is all going down.
I think that's the current plan. We're going to fix up all the SE/30s, 512ks, and Pluses. josefl710 has a bunch of SCSI2SD kits he's going to build, so I think what we'll do is fix and pimp out the SE/30s with ethernet cards and SCSI2SD cards, sell those off. Perhaps the Pluses, too, since they have SCSI.

Make sure you don't have ticking time bombs in those pile! Take all the old batteries out first. And check for leaky caps!

It'll probably take a lot of time to check them thoroughly and bring them back to shape, but this is nevertheless a huge opportunity for the Mac lovers community! Also, I didn't expect NeXT Cubes to be in there, they're rare pieces and are probably worth a lot of money alone if they're in working shape.

Anyway, I am going to help fix up the machines as best as I can, so maybe that will help things go a bit more smoothly.
So far, I have looed at one of the SE/30s, and it actually looks pretty good inside (though the logic board definitely needs some repairs, as it doesn't seem to be working correctly). It had a red Maxell battery (unexploded, fortunately), which I removed as fast as possible.
I'll post more, including some pictures, shortly.

I'd tell them to cram it with walnuts. Machines should be accessible to the public at decent prices. If people don't like market forces acting as they should tell them to move to a communist country.
Yea, I know. I remember when I could get SE/30 boards on ebay for around $5 to $10 bucks.
It's a catch 22. I like to sell my machines for top dollar, to invest in new stuff, but I like to buy cheap. They aren't compatible, which makes it such an interesting hobby. I bought an iPad for $200 and sold it for $300, and a Mac Mini for $250 and sold it for $400. Take out the fees, and I had enough left over to buy a boxed 3.5 External Drive and a boxed Macintosh IIe card (yay, I finally freakin got one!).
Do you have any interest in selling an SE/30 and 512k, just need to be working don't need them reconditioned or anything, if they turn on and boot that is good enough. Let me know if you are interested in that at all.

If it's OK with olePigeon and josefl710, I could send you the one I'm currently working on once the logic board's fixed? I got a 512k as well, but the front bezel is in rather poor shape (lots of cracking and splitting along the to and side edges, almost as if it were smashed in somehow), so I think I'd have to source a new one before that'll be ready to sell.
We'd also have to decide on a price and stuff, but that shouldn't be a problem, I don't think.

Hey CC, that sounds pretty good, let me know how it all goes, I have been trying to find an SE/30 and 512k (the 512k is mainly for spare parts but would prefer them to be in halfway decent condition) and have put a few feelings out. When you think you have things ready and figure out a price let me know, if something else pans out before hand I will also keep you up to date. Mainly someone I know might trade his SE/30 for an original Macintosh that I have, though I would still like a 512k for parts.

I think I'm just going to have way too many things going on tomorrow, it's not a good day. Next weekend would be better.

Speaking of which, I opened up the one with the plain SE front (with "/30" sharpie-d on), and I found a battery explosion in progress! The battery holder is a loss, and it took with it some sort of surface mount transistor and a capacitor, but the rest of the board appears to be intact, thankfully (aside from normal cap-induced corrosion and such, of course). It also appears to have at least 16 MB of RAM, and a funny looking ROM SIMM I haven't seen in an SE/30 before. Do you think it's had its 32-bitness cleaned up?
Also, if you can offer some advice re: 400k floppy drives, that would be good, as I have one (from the 512k) whose disk-inserted sensor isn't actuating properly. When I press it down manually, the drive works fine (it boots up and everything), but it seems like the disk itself should be actuating it. Instead, the little pin it slides on seems to be interfering with the disk pushing it in.

Where is this pin? You could try to bend the pin straight or back to get it to work again.

There was supposed to be a small plastic peg on the piece that goes down, and it has been broken off!

Those pegs are notorious for breaking off, they fixed that issue in later designs.

We're still sort of cataloging, and just started to repair the first few machines. I'll be meeting with CC_333 this weekend to exchange batches. He's taking a few up to his place, working on them, then bringing back the repaired machines. I'm slowly repairing machines as well. It's a slow process, but in the end, I'd imagine at least 80% of these machines will be in working condition and in new homes for people to enjoy them.

Any chance they'll have short-model ADB keyboards for sale?
If you find one of the classics is non-functional, I could use a new case. My friend bought me a classic off of eBay for Christmas, and it's beyond repair cosmetically.

Ran into a mounting issue, so I'll be 3D printing some of bbraun's SCSI2SD mounting brackets sometime this week.
It's slow going because of life/work/transporation, but we're nearly there with our first SE/30 about to go on the market.
I'm certain we'll have a fire sale on parts once we're done. For certain there'll be machines that can't be or not worth resurrecting, and those can be parted out. Keyboards, cases, hard drives, etc.
