60 x 25 fans in G4 MDD PSUs

PPCMLA 68k 2 posts Nov 28, 2008 to May 23, 2009
I've seen an (almost) rave recommendation, from a long-standing 68kmla member, of a SilenX iXtrema fan of these dimensions for use in an SE/30. I have such a fan on hand to use in an upgraded 512Ke. That said, however, I have also seen at least one PC-focussed site more intent on burying Cæsar than praising him, as far as SilenX goes.

As this thread's title shows, I have a present interest in quieting a couple of G4 MDDs. Can any members of this Army propose brands that they have found to be of use in this MDD context? Ideally, brand names, bearing type (sleeve/bush, ball-bearing, 'fluid dynamic', which sounds remarkably like a euphemism for a sintered-metal oil-filled bush), and rpm and cfm figures might enable useful comparisons. Many thanks in advance for comments.

I'm late to this thread, but if you have found a source of quiet fans for the MDD it would be of interest. The MDD here is pretty noisy.[/quote]
Simasimac is caused by the system board not able to boot the ROM, or unable to complete ROM boot process. the semasimac actually comes from the initial state of the VRAM. Each brand of VRAM has a different pattern of initial state.

The cause? virtually anything. Stuck/broken data/address bus being the most common cause.

No $$$ until "payday" Mid Month. The beginning of the month is bills, food, rent and more bills. Ah life...
