No Warez - Read Me!
[I offer this policy for community review. Please post your comments below, and if there is not too much public outcry, I will make the policy permanent and read-only.]
This website is run out of my own pocket. I have neither the funds nor the legal wherewithal to defend against any claims of software piracy levied against me or the community. As such, I cannot permit questionable software sales on this server.
This is just a friendly reminder from the site admin that trafficking in warez on this server is not allowed. Please, do not list or offer for sale any floppies, CD-Rs, or DVD-Rs that do not also come with a legitimate license for the software in question and/or a copy of the original installation diskettes, disks, or discs.
Sales of computers and/or computer hard drives may not include installed copies of unlicensed software except in the case where said software may be freely distributed. Any software installed on a hard drive at time of sale must also include a valid license and/or the original installation materials. There is no such thing as an "evaluation copy of Adobe Photoshop."
Any posts offering such copies of software without a valid license will be deleted. A second offense by the same member earns the member a temporary ban. A third offense earns the member a permanent ban.

Well I decided to fire up my Plus today to test a hard drive that I had. This plus was working about a week ago and from what I remember I thought the CRT was under adjusted to where there was a pretty good size black border (i think). When I turned it on the screen was very bright and had some slanted horizontal lines. Up at the very top is a bright white line and the picture fills the whole screen (again, i didnt think it use to but I could be wrong). Is the repair steps similar to the SE/30? cause I found a website on it.
maybe try to adjust some of the pots and turn down the brightness, maybe you can get a picture back?

Chimes loud. I turned down the brightness while it was on but that didnt change anything so ill try the brightness cut off and see if that does anything.
I have see this one many times that I could almost recite from memory but I'll verify it with DMS. It is either R5 (470KΩ at 1/4 watt), or U12 SN74LS38; both on the analog board. Pages 52 to 54 on DMS.
Well i turned the cutoff the slighest amount to negative. Like barely a turn at all, turned it on and it chimes... no picture. 
What about a computer sold with its original software (restored from an original disk)?
I'll give an example: Say I have two beige G3s, and I want to sell one. I only have one original restore CD, and I would like to keep it. Would it be legal to either A) use my restore CD to install the originally included software onto the machine I am selling, or B) to burn a copy of it and ship it along with the machine, or C) both.
Would that be legal, seeing as the software was originally sold along with the computer?

Your cathode is definitely stuck on. So its either the logic IC on the analog board, or possibly the transistor that drives the cathode is shorted. Or logic board.
Will turning the pot bring the lines back to the way it was? Can I do this while its on? Second, is it possible to test anything like the transistor without removing the analog board or discharging the crt?

i always adjust those with it on.
You can do this with the monitor on but you need to use some plastic "TV Adjusting Tools" or you can take some chinese food chop sticks and with a razor knife cut the end into a chisel point that would fit the parts that needs adjusting. And when you're adjusting, do it slowly ad carefully. If the part gets stuck in a position, do not force it. Turn it off and then inspect it closer. It could be that you've reach the end of its turning or what paint seal used to freeze it in place is in the way and you need to scrape it off. This paint seal is usually in Red.
That's a really good question. I think that Apple actually supplies a little piece of paper which has the "license agreement" on it, and that probably constitutes the license in legal terms. Realistically, though, it is meaningless without the install disk. It's hard to argue that if you have the physical media in your hands you don't have a license to use it...
Plus, how many of us have kept all the documents for all the software they've bought over the years?
I'm not a lawyer, though.

A computer without afunctional and supported OS/System installation is an expensive boat-anchor. In my experience, Macs (because I have never owned any hardware from the PeeCee world) came/come with installation disks/discs, or else they come (nowadays) with OS pre-installed, and with accompanying restore discs.
Despite that, computer users who do not obtain and own primary/original media of all proprietary system software that they use, and believe that existence on the subsequent knife-edge between disaster and extinction is the way to go, are welcome to the results of that belief. In the case of Apple System software it is possible to get free access to all upgrades of a given Reference Release after acquisition of a legitimate copy of the RR. It is therefore pointlessly parsimonious not to get the RRs.
If a seller does not wish to include the original installation discs/disks in a sale of a working system, it is altogether reasonable to provide a backup on CD of the computer's present mass storage contents. Rationally, that backup has to include the installed System/OS, which may contain applied upgrades, as above, instead of an original installation medium. Such a backup is in no way completely equivalent to a copied installation disk/disc. Neither am I suggesting that a bare hard drive can be seen as a functional system in this context. Many eBay sales of working computers are premised on the courtesy and functionality of this practice. eBay countenances it, so it has to be thought that they believe that they are not liable (as in aiding and abetting copyright infringement) for the practice.
If Drew believes that there is risk in this view, his opposite numbers at Applefritter and 68K MLA will be worth his consulting.
