I just don't understand the logic of this, though.
Many people install Linux as a second OS or after their original OS has gotten tired. As more and more quite capable PowerPC Macs get shelved, and especially if Apple drops support for them in the OS, I could easily see the owners of those machines turning to Linux for a modern OS and modern apps. Discontinuing the "official" release of Ubuntu for PPC just doesn't make sense to me at this time. I'd think there would be _more_ demand for it, not less.
