I have an experience of using Mac OS X Server 10.4.7 Universal that builded for both architectures. This version of OS X is most improved. The new drivers, most updated built-in software aтв frameworks. Also OpenGL Extensions too. OpenGL 2.0 support fully complete. Also this build have an IO80211Family.kext which also is Universal and have a support of 802.11n Broadcom cards on PowerPC Macs. But this is the other story.
