when i received my G3 iMac, we had to reinstall Mac OS X Panther since there was a password on it that i didn't know about. Anyway, my problem is after i reinstalled Panther, when i try to open an application, it'll pop up in the dock for a sec, then disappear. i'm thinking it's a permissions problem, but i don't know if i could use my mom's bosses' panther cd (the mac was his) since they just moved their office. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also, i am having problems with my CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. When i try to watch a movie or put in a DVD, it stays in for a second, then it spits it back out. I went into DVD player and it said that there was no dvd rom device detected. Any help on this too is greatly appreciated!
