For the record, i forgot to add that i've also done a CUDA reset, a PRAM zap and an NVRAM reset, to no avail. I'm pretty sure that both of the SODIMMs are 8 chip ones, i can confirm that they are both 128MB PC100 SODIMMs. Sadly i won't be able to get to the computer tomorrow, but i'll take a look then.
