About
The Mac has always had the ability to capture the screen to a picture file via COMMAND-SHIFT-3 and with System 8 also via COMMAND-SHIFT-4. They work great but have the annoying habit of saving the screenshots at the top level of the hard drive. With a little research I discovered that there is in fact a way to specify where the pictures are saved and thus was born Desktop Screenshots. A tiny extension that redirects those picture files right to the desktop for easy access. Desktop Screenshots uses an undocumented feature of the standard system screen capture code. This feature appears to be available starting with at least System 7.6.1. Earlier system versions might work too but I haven't tested them. No system software modifications are made so it won't hurt anything to try it out, it will either work or not. Desktop Screenshots is FREEWARE (share and enjoy.)
