Star Wars Racer Setup 1.0.3 is a third-party utility for the Mac port of LucasArts' Star Wars Episode I: Racer (1999). The author wrote it because, as the BinHex notes put it, "editing a text file is a clumsy way to setup a game" - the tool wraps Pod Racer's text-based settings in a proper Mac dialog.
Purpose
The utility writes a setup file for Star Wars Pod Racer, exposing the same options the underlying text file would, but through a Mac UI. It is not a launcher or a patch - just a configuration front end for the LucasArts Mac release.
1.0.3 changes
This version reworks how the setup file is located, switching to a preferences file rather than re-finding the file each launch (a fix for a bug in 1.0.2). The author also folded in the extra settings exposed by Star Wars Racer 1.0.1.
Earlier history
1.0.2 changed file-finding so users only point at their podracer folder; the original setup file is trashed and replaced with the tool's output. A help button (with help text) and a version number in the Setup dialog were added the same release.
Compatibility
Targeted at the Mac build of Star Wars Episode I: Racer, which itself requires a PPC G3, Mac OS 8.6, 64 MB RAM, and around 700 MB of disk. The Setup tool only writes config; you still need a working Pod Racer install.
