Karlheinz Essl fLOW 2.0 ambient sound generator © 1998-2001, vs. 2.0 http://www.essl.at/works/flow.html About fLOW is a DSP computer program running on Apple Macintosh G3 machines. It generates an ever-changing and never repeating soundscape in real time that fills the space with flooding sounds that resemble - metaphorically - the timbres of water, fire, earth, and air. Originally, this soundscape formed the basis of the site-specific work-in-progress fLOW that was carried out in numerous steps and took place in various location with changing musicians from different fields like New Music, experimental jazz, free improvisation and New Electronic Music. For each performance, the soundscape was interpreted and commented by live-musicians. Each realisation was developed for the specific place, taking into account its individual socio-cultural context. Besides music and sound, such a realisation could also include light installations, film projections, performance aspects, elaborated time scores and computer-generated Playing Strategies (http://www.essl.at/works/playing-strategies.html) Shareware registration fLOW 2.0 is released as shareware. Please register your copy to ensure the further development of this program. You can purchase a registration code for $ 15.00 online from KAGI: http://order.kagi.com/?5BM Double-clicking on the "Register online with KAGI" file in the distribution folder will automatically start Netscape and open this URL. Only registered users can record the output to disk and include their own sound material. System requirements • Apple PowerPC G3 with at least 16 MB of free RAM • MacOS 8.6 or better (9.1 recommended) • Currently fLOW only works with the built-in sound hardware of your Apple Macintosh computer using the SoundManager. ASIO drivers or external hardware is not supported. If you have such gear, it is recommended to start your computer with all system extensions off (by pressing the shift-key during startup) so that there will not be a system extension conflict. In fact, fLOW does not require any system extension, only the SoundManager that is already included in the Mac OS. Quick intro • Double-click the file fLOW_2.0 to load the program. • The soundscape will start automatically. You can stop and restart it by selecting "stop" resp. "start" in the pull-down menu on the main screen. • The program will run entirely on its own. By selecting change in the pull-down menu the program will use a different selection of its basic material. • As a registered user, you can replace the four built-in basic sounds ("water", "fire", "earth", "air") with your own material. Just go to the "Samples" menu and select your 16 bit uncompressed AIFF files. Please note that the program uses only mono files; if your sounds are stereo, only the left channel will be used. Due to memory limitations, the sound files should not exceed 60 seconds. However, if you really wish to use longer samplers, you must increase …

ocs.com http://www.replacementd )$.RUHD )OLJKW0DQXDO 1 $%2877+($87+25 Dave Putze graduated from Pennsylvania State University in December 1984 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. After Marine Corps basic school, he attended flight training at NAS Pensacola, FL. He graduated from Navy primary flight training on the Commodore’s List with distinction and selected Jets. Dave received his coveted “wings of gold” in September 1987, with carrier qualifications completed aboard the U.S.S. Lexington, and the U.S.S. Enterprise. His first aircraft assignment was A-6E Intruders with VMA(AW)-242, in which he logged over 750 hours and one WestPac tour. While flying the A-6, Dave distinguished himself by being selected to attend the rigorous Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course in MCAS Yuma, AZ. In early 1990, an informal transition board in Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington D.C. chose Dave over several other qualified Marine Aviators to fly the brand new F/A-18D Night Attack Hornet. Returning to his former squadron, now re-designated VMFA(AW)- 242, he made a second WestPac deployment and the very first “Cope Thunder - North” exercise. Before leaving VMFA(AW) –242 for school in Quantico, VA, he had accumulated over 850 hours of Hornet time in the Fleet Marine Force. While attending Amphibious Warfare School in Virginia, Dave was interviewed and then selected to be an Instructor at the prestigious Naval Strike Warfare Center (NSWC) at NAS Fallon, NV. His duties while at NSWC included (in addition to flying F/A- 18s) Navy Air Wing instructor / evaluator, mission planning and preview systems model manager, and F/A-18 Instructor pilot. In 1996, Dave separated from active service. Although still a Major in the Marine Corps Inactive Reserve, he is currently flying Boeing 727’s for Federal Express Corporation. Dave is married to the lovely Miss Michelle Gilderman, and they have two children, Nicole and Justin. During his military flight career, Dave has participated in several airshows, flying military aircraft demonstrations for the public. He has also flown in numerous photo sessions, and has been featured on the covers of such publications as; Aviation Week and Space Technology, Marine Magazine, and Leatherneck Magazine. You can also find shots of him in a computer screen saver collection and in some fighter aircraft calendars. Dave also appears in an episode of Sea Wings entitled “The Killer Bee.” This is his first book. 3 First and foremost I wish to thank my wife Michelle, for putting up with me and the long, arduous hours required to bring this manual to completion. Thanks dear! Oh, I’ll be home sometime before dinner… can you pick up the kids? I would also like to thank Trey and Jeff at GSC for giving me this job to begin with, Jeanine and Eric for editing and layout as…

FAHRENHEIT 451 Game Manual Notes From The Underground (For New Members) Criminal Alert Notice Guy, Lifted this from the Firehouse; thought you’d be curious. By the way, welcome! Everyone in the Underground feels this could be a turning point, having someone with your experience. We’ll try and help you through, as much as we can – I know it’ll be dangerous out there, but we are hovering in the background... Be careful! J. Swift Standard Public Release Form No. 451-C-22 Name of Suspect: Guy Montag To all members of the 451 Corps, New York Division: We are all aware that the Underground continues to permeate unsavory sectors of our City. Despite the valiant efforts of Corps members to snuff out insurgents, the renegades have succeeded in maintaining subversive activities and recruiting others to their cause. The 451 Corps, rightful custodians of the peace of our society, must revitalize their mission: keeping the world free of books, the instruments of unrest. One particular fugitive has been spotted in various sectors of the City. Guy Montag, once a stellar member of the 451 Corps, has clearly been tempted by the rhetoric of the Underground and is now connected with their reprehensible cause. This deserter and deviant must be brought to task for his crimes against the state. Among his distinctive characteristics is the aroma of kerosene, which persists as a permanent talisman to his true but suppressed loyalties. Additionally, there is a belief that Montag has obtained identification badges which falsify his identity and effectively confuse our efforts to track him. Please be on the alert. To all New Members: Welcome to the Underground. You have joined a group of people who are dedicated to freedoms – whether the freedom found between the covers of a book, or the freedom that once existed in this country and that must be rekindled. You will feel alone out there, surrounded by 451 Corps, and uncertain of the loyalties of the people you encounter daily. But you are not alone. Underground members are everywhere, waiting to assist a fellow Undergrounder in his or her mission, waiting to guide their compatriots to safety, waiting for the time when there will be reward for their efforts. Some advice: See the section called “Literary Quotations,” which describes how members of the Underground use literary quotations to communicate with each other. And, don’t forget your lighter, the Flame of Knowledge... Signed, Jonathan Swift Notes From The Underground Here are some tips on how to make it around in Manhattan. Almost no contamination at all. Introduction Fallout is Interplay's new PC CD-ROM role-playing game that puts you in the role of an explorer venturing out from your underground shelter on a quest. Decades ago, a brief, savage nuclear holocaust devastated the surface world; for a long time, the vaults held their tiny human enclaves safe from the radiation and mutations outside. You are a member of one of these self-contained communities, a citizen of Vault 13. For over eighty years, no one in your vault has set foot outside. Now, though, a critical component of your vault's water purification system has failed. In four months, your community will be destroyed ... unless you can find a replacement part and bring it back to Vault Thirteen. The Overseer, the community's leader, sug- gests that you begin your search at a neighboring vault, somewhere to the east. But exactly where you go, what you do, and where you search, is entirely up to you ... About This Book The Official Survivor's Guide to Fallout is divided into nine chapters. Some provide only very basic information that doesn't spoil the ending; others may give away secrets that will spoil some of the excitement of the game. The authors of this guide have devel- oped the patented Radiation Trefoil System (RATS) to warn you that a chapter might give away more information than you want to know. Here's how the system works: A light dose only. Almost no contamination at all. A moderate con…
