MacSSH Secure Shell Client If you're using Mac OS 7x/8x/9x, you can log into your IT Linux account by using a program called MacSSH. This program can also be used on Mac OS X, however you will be required to have Classic installed on it. Alternatively, if you're using Mac OS X, you can also use the built-in Terminal application. For more information on using Terminal, click here. To obtain MacSSH, you can download it here. You will be required to have StuffIt Expander. After you download the program, if it does not extract automatically, you may have to double click on the MacSSHPPC.sit icon. Once it finishes extracting, double click on the MacSSH PPC folder. Double click on the MacSSH PPC icon. To log into your Linux account: • Go to the File menu • Select Open Connection A connection window will open. In Host Name type in the server you wish to connect to (i.e. c1.ucalgary.ca, c2.ucalgary.ca, etc...) and press Connect. Note: For most people, any of our Linux servers may suit your needs. However if you require specific applications for research or data processing purposes, some servers may not have all the tools you need. For more information about this, visit Linux Programming Library page. If this is your first time logging into your account on your machine, you will be prompted: Host Key Unknown The key for this host has never been seen before. Are you sure you want to trust it? Host key fingerprint: (Some random string) You can just press Accept and Save. Next you will be prompted to enter your User Name and Password: Once you have successfully logged in and get your Linux prompt (e.g. bash-2.05b$), you are read to run many of the programs that have been installed on Linux. When you are finished using Linux, type logout at your Linux prompt to log out. To exit the MacSSH application, go to File and select Quit.

Adolf Hitler? Marilyn Monroe? Albert Einstein? Anyone at all? We do not know, but we suspect that there would be very little overlap. Everybody has their own gallery of heroes and villains, and in any case, how do you begin to weigh the achievement of a surgeon against that of a philosopher? A mountaineer against a rock group? A poet against a president? There is, after all, no universal currency of greatness, no objective way to reduce the life’s work of extraordinary people to measurable units. This CD-ROM, Makers of the 20th Century, started life as a series in the Sunday Times Magazine of London. It consisted of a thousand short pieces, each one a life in a nutshell, by more than 400 writers. We have built on the magazine series and, using the whole armoury of multimedia, we have given an account of our busy century through the life stories of key individuals. So, as well as learning that Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, you can see him do it and read what the world thought of his incredi…

The Manhole CYAN Welcome to the world in and around The Manhole. Remember this is not a race, and you don't win or lose. The idea behind The Manhole is exploration. Take your time, look around, click on everything, and enjoy the journey. Every time you play, you'll probably find something new. To move around you simply click where you want to go. If your hand points to the left or right, clicking will turn you that direction. In some places you can look up or down as well. Sometimes clicking a second time on a creature or object produces a different response.
