3d Brick Bash! version: 1.3 Instructions Game and documentation are Copyright 1994, 1998 Matthew Diamond, All Rights Reserved This game is shareware. Please see accompanying file, "3d Brick Bash! WHY?" for payment information and an explanation of what shareware means. *This update is free to users who registered for previous versions.* Contents ------------ System Requirements Game Play Special Commands Hints Troubleshooting System Requirements -------------------- 68020 chip or later (including PowerPC and G3). Color Quickdraw System 6.0.5 or later. 1,300K memory in 256-color; 800K in 16-colors. 3d Brick Bash! runs on the vast majority of Macs, including all of the color-capable models. Note that some black-and-white machines such as the SE/30 can run this game if they have the extension "32 Bit Quickdraw" installed. In effect, this extension (published by Apple) allows the machine to think like a color machine. A few of the oldest Macs, such as the 128/512k Macs, Mac Plus, and Mac SE, cannot run the game. The recommended monitors setting for most Macs is 256-colors, though some people find the 16-color display less distracting. Some older Macs (pre-68040 chip, like the LC and LC II) may run best only in 2 or 4 color mode. Others, like the IIsi and IIci, run fine in 16-color mode. If the game does not feel responsive or movement is jerky, try running in fewer colors. You can even run in black and white! Game Play ------------------- (Note: the game contains documentation in its menus. For clarity it is covered in more detail here.) This game is similar to the classic game of Break-Out, where you use a paddle to hit a ball against a wall of bricks, destroying the bricks. The main difference is that here the playing area is 3-dimensional. You have to keep the ball from hitting the floor by bouncing it off your paddle. -1- You can also direct the ball somewhat by hitting it with different areas of your paddle (hitting it close to the edges makes it travel at a greater angle, while hitting it dead center makes it travel straight up and down.) Bonus points are received for finishing levels quickly and not losing any balls on the level. Every 3 levels an extra ball is awarded. From time-to-time, targets decorated with a letter appear on the back wall. If you can manage to hit one with the ball, you get a special bonus depending on the letter. (N) - skips to next level, awarding full bonus points (X) - awards an extra ball (B) - bonus points are added to your score (S) - ball turns into indestructible rubber for 20 floor bounces. This means the ball bounces safely off the floor, and very quickly too. This can destroy many bricks for you. (C) - the ball is controlled by the paddle for 10 paddle bounces. The ball still bounces up and down, but it tries to stay over the paddle. By moving the paddle carefully you can get rid of many bricks, especially the hard ones i…

New Tricks v1.3 | user's manual Welcome to New Tricks v1.3! We're glad you've downloaded the program, and hope you find it useful! 1. What is New Tricks? 2. What's New in 1.3? 3. Interface 4. Add-ons 5. Troubleshooting 6. Uses for New Tricks 7. Tips 8. Support 9. Registering New Tricks 10. Contact Us 11. User License 12. Version History 1. What is New Tricks? New Tricks is, at its most basic, a simple, cross-platform word processor with add-ons (similar to web browser plug-ins) . It performs mostly basic things that should ship with many computers anyway, but New Tricks can run on pretty much any type of computer, and it saves "styled text" files as HTML files. Also, New Tricks features an easy-to-use help file system, located at the bottom of the screen. Simply type in a question in english, and it will attempt to answer it! As New Tricks matures, a version of it will be available for Mac OS 7.1 and above (including 8, 8.5, 9, and eventually X) , Windows 3.1, 95, NT, and above, Linux (PPC and Intel) , FreeBSD and BSDI UNIX, Solaris, SGI IRIS, SPARC SunOS, and a couple other flavors of UNIX. A complete list is available at http://karlbecker.com/newtricks/ 2. What's New in 1.3? New Tricks v1.3 features a lot more internet abilities: * F-TeePee Add-on now packaged with New Tricks - adds capability to upload your current file to any FTP server * added "Open URL..." feature that grabs web pages off the internet * highly improved print screen, including showing of page breaks, easier margin setting, and bug fixes * added double-click feature to file path that allows you to easily change what file you're looking at * added "Go to Line..." under the Edit menu - very good for editing source code files * implemented much better functionality for platforms other than Mac OS and Windows 3. Interface The interface may be a little different from most programs - but remember, this is to be cross-platform, so a little deviation from the platform standard is, well, to be expected. The text you're reading right now is inside the main document, which is where you type and edit things. At the bottom of the window is the help system. Simply type in any question you may have, hit return (or click on "Ask question") , and New Tricks will try to provide you with an answer. If nothing happens, try to explain your question a little bit better, and make sure you spelled key words correctly. Directly above the place to type in questions is a file path. It's displayed much like a web address, using slashes "/" to separate folders. The file path shows where the current document you're working on resides. If you can only see part of the file path, clicking on it will show you more of the file path. To the left is the main button bar, which mainly provides a big target for your cursor to get to some of the basic functions of the program. "New File" blanks the current open file (but asks if you want to save your current fil…

A complete list is available at http://karlbecker.com/ newtricks/ 2. What's New? New Tricks v1.1 includes a number of enhancements over its previous versions. These include: * Sort That! - add-on that adds a feature previously unseen in word processor - sorting! Sort names, numbers, dates... whatever you can think of! Tell everyone you're "streamlining your productivity ergonomically and comfortably," and sound impressive. * improved spell-check functionality * new Add-on name display... no more short, ugly names displayed inside the program. * match your word processor with your computer color! All of Apple's hues are built right into New Tricks! * All that, and now the New Tricks dog is now keeping a watchful eye over your documents! 3.
