Apple Computer frequently provides improvements to Mac OS X printing via incremental system updates. Keep Mac OS X up-to-date by running Software Update or visit Apple. Mac OS Printing Issues and Solutions Always Check The Web For Printer Software Updates Latest printer software will add new features to previously-installed printers, and may introduce incompatibilities with previously-installed printer software. If you plan to use multiple printers, ensure that you have installed the most current software available for each model. Updated software is available online in “web packages.” Download and install the most recent web package available for each printer to update to the latest features and ensure maximum compatibility in all your printing software. After installation of newer software, always set up that printer again with Apple's printer utilities, Print Center (for Mac OS X) and the Chooser or Desktop Printer Utility (for Mac OS 9), to ensure all the options and benefits of the new software you have installed. Use the Mac OS 9 Installer for Your Printer If You Print from the Classic Mode of Mac OS X. Software is available for your printer for both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9. If you print from Mac OS 9 applications in the Classic mode of Mac OS X, it is recommended that you install printer software for both operating systems, particularly for USB-connected printers. Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 handle printing differently, and failure to install printer software specifically for Mac OS 9 may result in unexpected output, loss of printing options, or a complete inability to print from applications in the Classic mode. Note that Petit dosbox Incorporated is not an emulator itself, although it incorporates the binary code of DosBox 0.63 compiled for OS X into the package. For more information on how to update the DOSBox binary that comes with Petit dosbox, read the section How to update the DOSBox binary at the end of this document. How does it work? Petit dosbox does not create a standard DosBox configuration file. Instead, it will work with its own format configuration files, which will remain inside its own application package. Since version 0.38 all configuration files remain hidden so there is no danger to damage them. Please note that updating Petit dosbox by replacing the original will erase the old configuration files. This issue will hopefully be solved in further releases. In the main time, check the FAQ at the end of this document for a how-to on updating Petit dosbox without harming your settings. What can you do? Petit dosbox is divided into four main tabs: Main, Advanced, Game Manager and Support. Common to all of these sections, there’s the status box, at the bottom of the window. Here Petit dosbox will keep you informed of every possible aspect of the emulation and/or of Petit dosbox itself. The Main Tab Here you can specify the main configuration parameters needed to make DosBox work properly. You do not need the other tabs at all whenever you use the main tab properly. These are the main parameters. • Use internal DOSBox. Checked by default. When checked, Petit dosbox will use the packaged version of DOSBox. This is the most confortable way of using Petit dosbox.
