what URL?! Quick Start Making an URL entry: To make an URL in a wU?! document, simply select New URL... from the File menu. Then type the information you want into the dialog and click OK. You can also make a new URL by either pasting text into a document, or dragging text from another application. In this case, the initial name of the URL will be the same as the URL itself. When dragging text, wU?! will parse the URL in advance to make sure its structure is valid. If it is not, wU?! will refuse the drag. This has yet to be implemented for Cut & Paste. Using your URLs: To launch an URL, double-click it, or select it and hit return. To see more info and edit your URL, option double-click it, or use cmd-I (Get Info... in the File menu). You can use the arrow keys to navigate your selection in the document. To view your comments, turn on balloon help, and move your pointer over the URL. You can also turn on balloon help in wU?! by hitting the help key on your extended keyboard. Use the Label menu to give your URLs labels. The colors and names are taken from the Finder label settings. The actual location of the URL is displayed in the lower pane of the window when the mouse is moved over it. Using documents: Use the View menu to sort your entries using different criteria. When the document has a black diamond, it has been modified. You can always use Revert in the File menu to change the document back, losing any changes since it was last saved. You can use the Windows menu the stack your document windows (using Arrange), or manually zoom your windows. It is possible that someone with, say, a 1024x768 screen can create a file in a corner of his screen which would not be visible on a 640x480 screen. wU?! does not yet automatically move these documents on screen, but by using Zoom and Arrange in the Windows menu, you can do this manually, even if the document is completely hidden offscreen. Getting more from wU?!: Any wU?! documents that are in a folder called "Startup Documents" present in the same folder as wU?! will open on a plain startup. Opening wU?! by dropping a doc on it, or by double-clicking a document will cause wU?! to skip over the "Startup Documents" folder. Any AppleScripts that are in a folder called "Script Menu Items" present in the same folder as wU?! will be displayed is wU?!'s script menu. If the name of the file ends with a slash and then a letter, then in the menu, the script will have a keyboard shortcut of that letter -- Test Script/T becomes Test Script, runnable by hitting cmd-T. Make sure not to use letters that wU?! already uses. Also, selecting a script from the menu while holding down option opens it in the Script Editor. -1-
