Macintosh HD:"""""MacFormat:ya-nw-231:Docs:!!READ ME FIRST!! Page 1 of 1 Saved: Friday, September 20, 1996 12:57:18 AM HOW THE DOCS AREORGANIZED Documentation for YA-NewsWatcher consists of a number of different files organized into several folders. The "Mini Manuals" folder contains Microsoft Word version 5.1 illustrated documents that describe various special features of YA-NewsWatcher, organized by topic. The "Misc" folder contains information on converting older version filter files, a technical description of regular expressions used in filters, and the revision history of YA-NewsWatcher indicating what changes, improvements, and fixes have been made since YA-NewsWatcher was first released. "Non-English Docs" contains files explaining how to use YA-NewsWatcher in non-English language newsgroups. "Remailer Docs" features a collection of html files that provide information on anonymous remailers. The file "YA-NW Readme" provides a general overview of the program, how it differs from original NewsWatcher, and also describes those features that don't fit into one of the manuals in the "Mini Manuals" folder. UPGRADING FROM VA-NW OR OLDER YA-NW VERSIONS If you're upgrading from versions 2.0.3 or earlier of YA-NewsWatcher, or from any version of VA-NewsWatcher, you need to read the file "Converting Old Filters" now. You also need to read this file if you created user group list specific filter files in versions of YA-NewsWatcher prior to 2.2.0b10. This document contains important information on converting your filters files. Failure to read this and the other user documents CAREFULLY and THOROUGHLY will result in undue suffering on your part. If you're new to NewsWatcher or YA-NewsWatcher, you should spend the time to carefully read the excellent manual for original NewsWatcher by John Norstad, and the accompanying subject-oriented YA-NewsWatcher mini-manuals. If you've used YA-NewsWatcher before, and have already read the user docs, I suggest you look at the "YA-NW Revision History" document to see what has changed since your current version of YA-NewsWatcher, then read the appropriate subject-oriented YA-NewsWatcher mini-manuals for more information on the new or changed features, as well as "YA-NW Readme" for those topics that aren't covered by the other mini-manuals.

Discrete Signals and Systems II - TRANSFORMS, WINDOWS, MODULATION: READ ME FIRST VERSION 1.01 To All Users: This disk is delivered with the version of the System Folder; System (v2.0) and Finder (v4.1). To replace the System Folder, startup your Macintosh with another disk "containing" System (v2.0) and Finder (v4.1), eject that disk (unless you have an external drive), insert a copy of this disk and then drag the icons of the System and Finder from the startup disk onto your copy. Transforms, Windows, Modulation will NOT operate on a 128K Macintosh. If you wish to use this product with newer versions of the System Folder, the screen will not refresh properly when the File Menu is used. The TWM Data Folder must be on the same disk as Transforms, Windows, Modulation otherwise, a "File Error" will occur when the application is started and the program may crash if you proceed. The TWM Data Folder contains the "TWM Image Folder" and the "TWM Scrap Folder." The images necessary for the operation of the program are stored in the TWM Image Folder. TWM Scrap Folder saves signals stored in 'storage bins.' Do NOT remove scrap #0 or screen save signal documents from the TWM Scrap Folder. TWM v1.01 can run on SCSI hard drives. It is recommended that on an HFS device, TWM 1.01 and all the related data/image files (scrap#0, screen save, saw, THEwindowER, POS) included on the disk be at the same level, i.e. in the same folder or all at the root level. If the files are scattered over the volume at different levels, the program will ask the location of each file at the start of the program. Also, TWM 1.01 is not recommended for a Mac SE or a Mac II; erratic behavior in signal file operations may result. Make sure the Discrete Signals and Systems disk is unlocked otherwise, a "File Error" will occur when you attempt to store a signal in a Storage bin. The Discrete Signals and Systems disk MUST be in the internal or external drive and do not operate the program after ejecting the disk. Due to a limitation in the graphics routines and screen resolution, discrete data values may appear unevenly spaced when the display width exceeds 60 points. Furthermore, when an array is all negative, the tick marks may overlap. In the "Point by Point" mode, if the value entered falls beyond the specified boundaries, lines may be drawn over the scroll bar. All standard Apple Desk Accessories are operational. However, if a desk accessory is moved around on the screen, the screen will not refresh until the accessory is put away. If infinite (INF) numbers are created during an operation, clear the signal in the graph window and then proceed. If vertical lines appear on the screen, save all signals, exit the program and restart. INF values may occur when using the exponential function generator or the exponential operation, if the base and/or the exponent are not carefully sel…

TeleScope I-Piece SDK Introduction Thank-you for your interest in developing for TeleScope. The files which accompany this Read Me file will provide you with the framework to get started writing I-Pieces quickly. The I-Piece SDK assumes you are using CodeWarrior from MetroWerks to create you code. You may use other C or C++ development environments, but North Plains Systems Inc. does not guarantee its support of any other environment. The following folders are installed by the SDK installer: Put In MacOS Support: Take the contents of this folder, and place it in the "MacOS Support" folder inside your CodeWarrior development environment. The items in this folder are the libraries (for 68k) and header files for ODBC. The header files are required, because the I-Piece interface file, "IPieceIntf.h" uses some ODBC constructs. Unless you plan on actually using an ODBC connection in your I-Piece, you will not need to link with the libraries. Docs: These are the I-Piece SDK documentation files, in Adobe Acrobat format. Sample: The contents of this folder are a working, sample I-Piece, which you can use as a "skeleton" for building your own. Interfaces: This folder contains the main I-Piece interface file, "IPieceIntf.h", which defines all the calls, data structures and constants for building I-Pieces. We recomment you put this somewhere in your CodeWarrior folder hierarchy, or keep it separate and add the appropriate path to your projects. North Plains Systems Inc. offers free technical support, via fax or e-mail, during your I-Piece development. We always attempt to answer your questions within 12 hours. Our contact information is: Fax: (905) 272-0413 E-Mail: devsupport@northplains.com Good luck in your development efforts! -1-

Read Me First! Page 1 of 3 Saved: Friday, June 4, 1999 8:39:03 AM Filename Formatter Version 1.0 The Flexible File Naming Utility This utility facilitates the renaming of multiple files in a single batch process. Sure, you could manually rename or sequentially number dozens of files, but why not save time using this handy, dandy little application? Filename Formatter was originally designed for use by the creative crew at EyeWire (and before that Image Club Graphics) to streamline a wide range of tedious file naming tasks. After keeping it in-house for several years, someone decided that maybe our customers could benefit from this tool as well. Thanks to that fine, upstanding individual - you can now use Filename Formatter in the comfort of your own home or office. Enjoy. Comments, bug reports, and feedback regarding this software may be e-mailed to <goodies@eyewire.com> Although we certainly appreciate hearing from you, please be aware that Filename Formatter is not a commercial product. In fact, it’s just something that we slapped together in our spare time. The bottom line is… don’t expect full-blown, 24/7 technical support for this puppy. Thanks for understanding. .................................................................................................. .............. Before You Start The Filename Formatter utility is supplied as a HyperCard stack. As a prerequisite, it requires the HyperCard software be installed on your computer. The free HyperCard Player may be downloaded from the Apple Computer web site: http://asu.info.apple.com/swupdates.nsf/artnum/n10430 Want to create your own programs? You can also purchase the full retail version of HyperCard directly from Apple. HyperCard is Apple’s premier tool for easily creating custom software solutions for business, education, and multimedia. For more information on HyperCard and its features, check out the Apple web site: http://www.apple.com/hypercard/ .................................................................................................. .............. How to use Filename Formatter Filename Formatter currently recognizes and renames the following file types: - Adobe Photoshop - EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) - GIF - JPEG - QuickTime Movie - PICT - TIFF - Text Files Filename Formatter allows you to perform seven distinct operations on the names of files in a user-selected folder. You can: - Change the case of the alphabetical characters in a filename. - Strip spaces or other punctuation marks a filename. You can reformat filenames using: - Full filename substitution - Prefixes – Suffixes – Sequential numbering - String replacement or perform any combination of these operations. Read Me First!
