Installing iLife ‘06 Welcome The iLife ‘06 software package gives you the most up-to-date versions of the iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, iWeb, and GarageBand applications. Follow the instructions on this card to install these applications and begin using Apple's acclaimed tools for creating, editing, organizing, and sharing your digital music, photos, and movies. What You Need To install your software, you'll need: * Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or Mac OS X version 10.4.3 or later (10.4.4 or later required for using iChat recording in GarageBand, iPhoto Photocasts, and for iMovie HD themes) Important: For optimum performance, update your system software to the latest version of Mac OS X. To make sure you have the latest version of Mac OS X, choose Apple (@) > System Preferences and click Software Update. Click Check Now to retrieve updates for your system. After you install an update, it’s good idea to click Check Now a again to make sure you've received all the available updates. You must have a connection to the Internet to use Software Update. ¢ iTunes 6.0.2 or later and QuickTime 7.0.4 or later (both included) ¢ A Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G4, GS, or Intel Core processor and at least 256 megabytes (MB) of memory (512 MB or higher recommended) Important: To use iDVD, you need a Macintosh computer with an Intel Core processor or a 733-MHz PowerPC G4 processor or higher. To use HD video in iMovie HD, you need a Macintosh computer with an Intel Core processor or a 1-GHz PowerPC G4 processor or higher with at least 512 MB of memory. * A DVD drive Important: To burn a disc using iDVD, you need a Macintosh computer with an Apple SuperDrive (DVD recordable) or compatible third-party DVD burner. a * 10 gigabytes (GB) of available disk space to install the iLife ‘06 applications Note: These are the minimum requirements for installing and using your software. Installing iLife ‘06 To install the iLife software: a Insert the Install iLife ‘06 DVD into the drive. Double-click the iLife ‘06 icon and follow the onscreen instructions. If you want to install only some of the applications on the disc, click Customize in the Installation Type pane of the Installer.
