Help needed with a imac G3 CRT
Can anybody help me with this imac G3 crt
I cannot get the driver to connect it to internet.
I have a wireless lan usb from sweex and now i will connect in to the imac, but i get the message "no drivers, i have to get it from the internet".
I cannot find any drivers for it.
Should i upgrade it to os 9.2.2 to connect or...?
When i update the imac, all programm and files are not erased??

there you go
you stil need to tel us more about the imac and like i said that sweex usb lan connector might not be compatible with mac os 9
it might need mac os x or isnt mac compatible at all
upgrading to 9.2.2 wont delete your files unless you initalise the hd your self
edit : how ever never EVER assume a upgrade liek that wil go without a hitch always back up your files before you perform a upgrade like that

There are very few USB WiFi adapters that will work with OS9.x, so you may be out of luck.
If you have the internal adapter for the imac, you can install an Orinoco wifi card (instead of the more costly airport card -- they're the same, electrically). Just carefully remove the skins, and you'll be able to install the Orinoco fine. The mac treats it as an airport card.

Hello, this is what i found on the Imac G3:
Version Mac OS N1-9.0
Machine -id: 406
Processor info: PowerPCG3 400 Mhz
Finder: 9.0
Active enabler: Mac OS ROM N1-3.1.1
The sweex is a usb stick for wireless internet
When I plug it into the imac it says, "The drivers for the USB 54M.USB.. are not avaible, shall i surf to finf them on internet"
regards john

It is unlikely, as far as I know, that you'll find any usb wireless set able to actually work on Mac OS 9. What I'd do is mosey on over to your router and plug the iMac into the Internet with an Ethernet cable, or find an Airport card and install it into the iMac. To my knowledge there's no way to get Wireless-G on that particular iMac, especially since it's USB ports are only the 1.1 variant anyway, so you wouldn't get G speeds out of a Wifi-G adapter.
