8600/G4/Radeon, 7600, assorted box

I just picked up the two machines above that were donated to my work. They don't do Macs, so I "offered" }

to save them from the crusher. I haven't checked them out internally yet.

Also picked up a couple of boxes of assorted hardware that I haven't gone through yet. I mostly picked them up for the 16 port ethernet switch and the Mac clone USB keyboard.

What speed is the 8600? 250's and 300's are Mach V/Kansas machines.

It's a 200. I haven't checked them out for internal goodies yet.

It's got a 700MHz G4 in it. Also a PCI ATI Radeon graphics card, 512MB of RAM (8x matched pairs of 32MB DIMMs), and a Seagate 9.1GB UltraWide SCSI HD on a 68-50pin adapter, a SCSI Zip drive with faceplate, and a full complement of onboard VRAM.

Nothing quite so exciting in the 7600, but again, full VRAM and seven unknown DIMMs. Also a 2GB Quantum SCSI hard drive.

Yeah. Although I might transfer all the goodness into a 9500 or 9600. But that was my first thought too, XPostFacto here we come.

YDL was my second thought.

/edit/ speaking of which, does anyone know if the power supply from an 8600 will work with a 9500/9600 logic board?

Nice score on that machine.

700MHz G4 and PCI Radeon should run 10.3 nicely.

Your machine can probably handle the Mac version of Deus EX which is an awesome game but requires hardware to match. Sadly is OS 9 only.

/edit/ speaking of which, does anyone know if the power supply from an 8600 will work with a 9500/9600 logic board?

i'm not sure about the 9500, but it will definitely work in a 9600. they have the exact same PSU, and nearly identical mobo aside from some missing video circuitry and additional PCI slots on the 9600.

i know the mobo is basically the same between the two, i'm just not sure if the 8600's psu will physically fit into the 9500 box.

My 8500 and 9500 have the same PSU.
