A LC-III into a Flat panel iMac like thing. 3D printing? Platinum stock.

So you want LCiMac?

Umm i guess that is the first stage, what to call it?  haha.

I was thinking

- Macintosh LC Vision?

- Macintosh LC-III Plus?

- Macintosh SE III?

- Macintosh Color Classic Slim

iMac LC?

Sounds like a nice project! Could be something like an LC 520 but with a flat screen, which sounds great!

Yeah i suppose so, or more like a LC550 because all my LC-III's are Re-Clocked to 33mhz.

Mainly what i vision in my head is something that really looks good.

ITs got the lines across the back like the top of the lid of the LC.

Its got the thicker line across the front under the screen, like the LC and the Classic's.

Still deciding on Floppy drive, but i am thinking about maybe not on the Floppy drive, but i might integrate a Floppy Emu on the front?

would make it look quite modern i think.

also thinking about using iMac ( slot loading ) speakers on the front, to play my AIFF's   

I have quite a collection now of Modern Music Down Mixed MP3's to AIFF's to play on 68K mac's

Or just have the floppy be mounted like in the TAM.

I like the idea and think it would be quite impressive if you pulled it off. And I vote for nixing the floppy drive. I hate floppies.

3D printing large bezels isn't really viable at present - they tend to warp, if you can even find a machine with a large enough bed.  I'd go for milling / CNC from a piece of ABS stock instead, if you want nice Snow White-ish details on the front.  Even hand grinding out the details with a dremel and a straight edge should work.

If your LCD size suits, you could use a whole LC case for the back and sides and mount your new front panel stuff "under" it.  That way you still have easy clip-on clip-off access to the internals.

I'd start with a 5x0 monitor bezel and "chin" just without the "torso" underneath. Then an LC top case, floppy drive facing up, for the back.

How were you going to do peripheral cables? Out the bottom or sides, or somehow right angle em to stick straight out the back?

Or, mod one of these.



The pre-iSight models are easy enough to get open.

How about i550?

I know there's a Canon USB printer called the i450, not sure if they made an i550 or not, but not a bad name for it.

EDIT: There is a Canon i550...still a cool name. Besides, names do get re-used. Ask an older guy what a PS2 is and he will say an IBM. Ask anyone under the age of 27 and they'll say a Sony gaming console.

Uni - any progress?

Haven't started yet, no darn time, Soon! Still thinking about how the front should look and how it should be printed or pieced together from Orginal Mac plastics, Electrically and mechanically I know I can pseudo mount the components together.

NEC sold most of their LCD panels in the 00's with a very squared back, both in black or white plastics.



If you are shooting to simply make an extension of the bezels you at least get a hella flat surface to mount components on.
