Won an auction on two iMacs for $10. Just a little drive out of town to pick em up!

From the picture it looks like they are slot loaders, and a little bit of work to get them working. Nice to have a 9.2.2 capable machine! [

Nice!
Let us know if you're able to get them up and running.

Update: I picked them up a couple of days ago [

They are original '98 tray load iMacs - 4GB Drive, 32MB ram, 233MHz G3 proc. Probably no changes made ... however
The condition is what is said of them on the auction page - not working although they will chime, the hard drive spins up and as soon as it starts to fire up the crt going the computer shuts down!
I've opened one of them up and tried putting in a new battery and press the cuda button - but no luck.
I'm thinking the logic board could be worn out, and found an auction for a tray-load iMac motherboard with 128MB of ram on it [

Any ideas on whats going on?

It might be a dead power supply. But either way for $10 you really couldn't go wrong.
I am going to sell my G3 slotloader for $22USD used, and I do have a buyer.

Sounds like the flyback transformer's blown. This is fairly common with the tray loaders, and to a lesser degree with the slot loaders.

Since there has been a suggestion of a 'tired' flyback transformer, I gave one of them a go on an external monitor ... IT WORKS!
Boots up into Mac OS 8.6 and actually has 64MB of ram - probably wont do the transformer thing for a while (interesting to find the part). Mac OS 9.2.2 should run fine on that config.

^^It happened to my Bondi Blue so I recognized the symptoms. You could pull the motherboard, stick it into a new or custom case and run off an external monitor, thats what I'm doing with my He-Man Castle Greyskull case mod.
