New Suv
Well as some of you may know i owned a 1995 olds cutlass supreme(many issues) and a 1985 camaro iroc-z. Well i was working on selling the camaro and then the olds. well a guy that lives about an hour away from him sends me wanting to trade for my camaro. i asked the guy what he had to trade and i was shocked. he offered to trade his 2004 chevy trailblazer for my camaro. so he came down today and we both checked each others cars out and we went thru with the trade. so know i own a 2004 trailblazer ls 137,000 with a salvage title and one missing mirror. overall good shape, will load pics later if anyone wants to see it. it was a great trade i think
Personally, I would have traded a car for a bicycle. Much cheaper to operate, much healthier to user, and much friendlier to the environment.
well except when you live here in the midwest where we have snow and such.

Well, I'm just saying, you know, in 5 years, the bicycle will be useful for transporting perhaps up to 10 Mac mini's in a backpack.
The computer recycler is only 14.4 miles away. Just one hour each way. On nice, safe-for-bicyclists expressways with cars whizzing by at 65 miles per hour.
Except he gets, say a shipment of 50 Mac minis in. Whoops, there goes the whole day.
Salvage title means its been damaged more then 70% of its pre-accident market value. Was this thing rebuilt?

I'm not sure if this is the same, but when I was talking to the people at the repair shop after my accident, they mentioned how I was lucky the airbag didn't deploy, and he even showed me this one SUV that had relatively minor damage but every single airbag had deployed, and said that it would probably be a "total loss" or a "salvage" because the airbags were so expensive.
So if that's enough for it to be a salvage, then it could have been damage that wasn't too bad, but the airbags were deployed so it was written off.
With that said, I would make sure the SUV has airbags. I have heard of scams where they disconnect the airbag warning light and all this other stuff to hide the fact there's no airbags.

A friend got in a crash with his Yaris, hit a telephone poll after sliding on some ice, needed a new hood, bumper, and radiator, and caused damage of about half the value of the car, yet after the accident he was able to drive fine, so just because its a salvage title doesn't really mean it was in a huge accident.
yes it was rebuilt. it was hit in the front side. so a new door and front fender where put on, no frame damage. camaro was in good shape, needs a tuneup, alternator etc... ran a little rough. i think i got the better end of the deal.
Actually, I live in a cold climate that probably receives more bitter weather and more snow than most parts of the midwest.
As for transporting computers on a bike, I have two comments on that:
a) Some of us are beyond the point where we feel the urge to "liberate" basements full of obsolete computer equipment. Even if we did have the urge to do it once or twice a year, it would be cheaper to take a cab than own a car. (Or to rent a van, if you have a license, which I don't.) But like I said, some of us are beyond that point. Acquiring old equipment is just plain old materialism, just like any other form of materialism. (And yes Mike, I understand that your situation is a bit different since you actually run a business.)
B) Have you ever heard of sleds, shopping carts, and trailers? The first two are good for walking, while the latter can attach to a bike. You still won't be able to make huge hauls like that, but you can certainly carry a few desktops that way.

MacG4 that's a really good trade, although I would much rather own an old Camaro than that Chevy. Good for hauling stuff though.
yes but its a more practial every day vechile for me, which is what i really needed to replace my falling apart olds cutlass. also if you want to see pics of the camaro i traded for it, its the black one in my web albums.
SUVs are mostly not really off-road capable unlike a Land Rover or a similar car.
I would have traded for a 1990 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. But thats me.
Nice IROC! I wanted one in highschool along with a corvette and settled on a corvette 10 years later (1981).
Both the IROC and SUV probably do not get great gas milage to begin with. More storage space for computers in the SUV atleast.
Have you driven it enough to notice if the SUV needs front end alignment or makes any odd noises? Not sure whats worse a collision or being submerged in a flood for a week like the thousands of cars after katrina. I would be worried that the people who repaired it might not have done such a great job. Better get that side mirror replaced, around here they will ticket you for that. All in all it looks pretty nice, I asume the interior is nice as well.

yeah it drives fine no strange sounds. yeah i know it doesnt get good gas mileadge. i have a mirror on order so no worries.the interior is nice but does have some burn holes

Whaa? Ever heard of a Jeep Cherokee XJ? One of the best off road vehicles around, and it's an SUV.
He said mostly. You could class Range Rovers as SUVs but they are also excellent off roaders, just like the Land Rover Defender.
Don't forget public transit, I've liberated a 840av and Trinitron on the street car and subway. The 'burbs are another story.
You could always put a computer on the flat part where your legs go on a vespa.
