Installing Tiger on Beige G3 w/SuperDrive and XPostFacto
This is mostly for the benefit of Google searchers and anyone here trying to install Tiger on a Beige G3 using an internal SuperDrive (Apple or otherwise) and XPostFacto 4.0.
Problem: White screen on boot repeatedly prints out, "can't OPEN:" and then reboots into OS 9 when attempting to install Tiger.
Solution: Make sure hard drive jumper is set to MASTER.
Problem: Kernel panic trying to boot from install CD.
Solution: Make sure option for L2/L3 cache is NOT checked.
Problem: Install freezes on "configuring installation" or somewhere else very early on in the install.
Solution: Make sure "Use Old NDRV" is checked in XPostFacto options.

Problem: The install still doesn't work. It craps out anywhere from 1-5%.
Solution: My theory is that the SuperDrive is too fast for the G3. Use an old ass DVD-ROM drive, preferably Apple-supplied, pulled from another G3 or a G4.

Those beige G3 drives had issues when new, they have under run problems.
