I found a link for info on Newer Technology's freeware Gauge Series.

Of course, it goes without saying that ~gamba2 would have a download link for the Slot Info module from the Gauge Series,

but if somebody wanted to track down and post download links for both (all?) versions of the full series . . .

This is a link to a section of the The PC Guide, that I have just checked out briefly. That said, just the illustrated capacity/timeline history of the HDD alone, is well worth the price of admission (FREE!) and a mention in the Links Project, but check out the RAID configuration guide!

Wohoo! Looks like the room of Duo has had a nice update, there are several more illustrated HowTos than I recall from the last time I visited.

For those who haven't been to this wonderful .jp site, GO THERE! It's the best PowerBook Duo hack site I know about.

If you know of any Duo info sites (or any other good ones about anything even peripherally MLA related or even just generally interesting) not listed here yet, please post links. Here is Version 1.0 with 99% of the broken links fixed. There are only 2 or 3 of them that the WayBack machine didn't have copies of. I have the labels in FireFox's bookmarks, but Ctrl-C doesn't copy those too...

I have all of the devices that one can plug into the 32-bit PDS slot found on the SE/30 and the IIsi. The two PDS slots are electrically identical.
They are physically identical to the cache slot found on the IIci and IIvx, but not electrically identical. Plugging in a card meant for the IIci/IIvx into the IIsi or SE/30 will destroy your motherboard (I have a burned IIsi motherboard to prove it).

Now for the cards:

Asante made an Ethernet card for the IIsi that has a pass through PDS port allowing horizontal placement of the card. It also has a socket for a Math coprocessor (68882). This is the best ethernet card for the IIsi since it allows you to still connect an SE/30 or IIsi accelerator.

Don't be tempted to plug in the IIci cache card or any card designed for the IIci PDS slot, you will burn the IIsi board.

Apple Made a IIsi Adapter board with a soldered on Math coprocessor rated at 20Mhz. / However, I don't think highly of these: Their only purpose is to change the orientation of the PDS slot from vertical to horizontal, allowing you to use longer SE/30 form factor cards.

If you are overclocking your IIsi, you can't use this adaptor: The Math coprocessor is rated at 20Mhz and nothing more, unlike the 68030 CPU, although rated at 20Mhz, will run to at least 25Mhz.

SuperMac made a DUAL PDS adaptor for the IIsi and sold it with the IIsi Video Spigot. It looks similar to the Daystar adaptor, but the slots are aligned and both are IIsi & SE/30 PDS slots.

The lower slot held the spigot and the upper slot held the digitizer board, but they can hold any SE/30 or IIsi PDS card (assuming it fits in the case). The upper slot has access to the rear panel port, while the lower card doesn't (unless you hack it). Supermac's Video Spigot had an RCA plug that bent upwards to exit alongside the video card's monitor socket.

The Daystar cards should have a notice along the lower slot that says "for Power Cache only."

The upper slot is a IIsi PDS slot for usual PDS slot devices, e.g. video card or Ethernet Card. The lower slot is actually a IIci/IIvx slot.

You can plug in any card designed for the IIci into this slot: Daystar's Universal PowerCache, Apple's Cache Card, and others. You cannot plug in any device designed for the IIsi or Se/30 into the lower slot marked "For PowerCache Only"

The reason there is a Math Coprocessor socket on the board is so you can have a math coprocessor when you use an 030 Cache card (from Apple or Daystar). The socket should be empty when using a powercache with a Math Coprocessor.

One device not mentioned above is the IIsi Nubus adapter. As noted in this thread, this adapter does not work in the SE/30

What is AsyncKeys! ?
AsyncKeys! is a utility which displays a keystroke or key combination’s exact keyboard reference number and its ASCII equivalent. Note that if you change the layout of your keyboard (e.g. from “U.S.” to “French”) the ASCII character may change, but the keyboard reference number will not.

System Requirements:

A PowerMac running Mac OS 7.6 or higher. AsyncKeys! has not been tested on 68k Macintosh systems, but may be compatible.

You can use Sawtooth/Gigabit Ethernet CPUs in a Digital Audio without any changes at all. Apple System Profiler may say it is running slow but other programs can generally detect it properly. (I have personally tested this, including changing the resistors and running benches) The only issue is that you are running a really slow CPU and the bus gets dropped down to 100MHz but it is good for testing a suspect motherboard or CPU.I have not tried in a QS, but the QS is similar enough to the DA that it *should* probably work. ymmv

Best I can do with the scanner I have on hand. Friend of mine has a really nice, really expensive DSLR that I'm sure would do a better job. This sucker is for sale if anyone is interested; still untested but I'd accept a return+refund if it didn't work.
