For when you spill your M&M's and don't want to reach for them? You just MacPlow them off of the table?Why would someone consider mounting a CD-ROM sled upside down on the floor of a Plus? ;D
Reality here though: Would a disc be able to stay in the tray? or are we talking one of those awkward Mark-has-no-knowledge-of-but-may-have-seen-one cartridge CD-Rom drives?
Looks great! Now, how will you make the Plus talk to it?
By taking it over the top, of course! :approve:

I like the notion of making a pair of custom PCBs for each end of the chain. I'll certainly be doing some version of the adapter PCB for the SCSI Controller so I'll have a standard header on that end. Then I'll make another one very similar to the SCA<->50 pin adapters. It'll be DB-25<->50 pin and in alignment with the connector on the HDD mounted below the ZIP.
With the cables slit to make the turns at the MoBo end it should wind up lookin pretty slick and, hopefully, working even better.
In the meantime I'm just gonna leave the friggin' bucket off that ancient POS and use the standard Zip Cable! [}

It's a little early, so my first thought was, leave it open? Just route the cable out the expansion sl.. OH yeah.. nevermind..
)
Actually, all Compacts, right back to the 128k, came factory equipped with an expansion slot/slot cover . . .
. . . though, most people just used it to hold in all the corrosion, staining and leaking battery acid.
p.s. anybody got the dimensions/comparisons between Zip and Jaz drive openings? [}

Take one guess who found a translucent Blue Zip100/USB whilst rummaging about this evening? :lol:
I've been on Facebook too much lately I guess. I just reached over to hit the "Like" button on that last entry
