Help Installing OS Quadra 610
OK so I am trying to install mac os 7.5.3 onto my macintosh quadra 610. I have tried a cd that I burned but when I try to install the os using this cd my install somehow always gets corrupted one way or another. I thought instead I could try something over networking just in case that might work. I am really confused on what my options are here. I have a powermac g4 running os 9 with an ethernet port. The quadra has aaui to ethernet adapter. I have an airport express with two open ethernet ports that I use to connect my g4 to the wifi via its ethernet (because there is no wpa in os9). I dont get how to connect the two computers together. I tried downloading a 7.5.3 network access disk but I dont get how to use it. I was reading and there is something about one is using tcp/ip and one is using a network control panel, is that the problem? Any idead on how to connect these two computers and install an OS?
Thanks,

What OS is on the Quadra right now?
well it has 7.5.3 right now but i have to boot it with extensions off just to get it to boot. I can boot from the network access floppy if needed tho
drag them all to a new folder and add them back one at a time, reboot after each one to find the bad extension.
or, have you tried burning the CD at the slowest speed?
network access disk requires you to mount the image with DiskCopy 4.2 or 6.3 and create a floppy disk.
I'm loading up my plus to show you what I mean about disk copy real quick.

Yeah but there are like dozens and dozens of extensions...
I tried COnflict Catcher but I couldn't quite understand how to use it.

all right well here is the disk copy 6.3.3 screen. you just load up disk copy (4.2 was the same IIRC) goto utilities and click Make a Floppy or Create Floppy, and then find the network access disk image file, insert a floppy disk and then it will do the rest. you will be able to boot that disk afterward then.

AAUI is ethernet. You just add the medium of your choice with the transceiver (10BaseT/10Base2/Fiber). The problem back in the day was that it's wasn't clear wich medium the customers wanted. The market was in flux. To save money they just decided to add ethernet, but so that the customer can choose the medium. The quadra has aaui to ethernet adapter.
Use half the extensions and reboot. Then the other half. You have now verified that one half is good. Do the same with the bad half and repeat until the bad one is found. :approve:drag them all to a new folder and add them back one at a time, reboot after each one to find the bad extension.
You put any RAM in that thing yet?but i have to boot it with extensions off just to get it to boot.
