63x series ram slots
So I have a few of these.
It was my first new computer bought for us as a family group.
So I'm sliding parts in and out maxing them out as best as I can, then I see a strange sight. Two ram slots instead of one.
So that's cool. Silk screened for 1-16 mb on one slot and 1-32 mb on the other. So that was new to me and kind of cool.

you still use OS9 if you can get it for cheap?

I might be remembering incorrectly, but I was under the impression from some random website that the dual slot boards were the ones that took DOS cards or something. YMMV
I do know that my Performa 580 board has two RAM slots and my LC 630 has only one.

Paris is cute, it costed far less than protools systems and offers great sounding converters and a little bit of DSP, mostly used for summing and EQ.
somewhat similar to protools you can run up to 8 or 9 cards, and each of them offers another 16 channels of IO, the limit is only the PCI bus (not sure where exactly it is)
if you really dont like the recroding software by intelligent devices for some reason, as far as i remember the paris cards also work with cubase, nuendo, logic and SVP.
ensonic also offered matching remote controls, no idea how difficult it is to find one these days (or is one included in yours?)

I know the 640 took a dos board, but I do not have one. Not sure on the 580 as I only have a 575. Other than the ram slot it's identical in system profiler.
Now I just need to find out if the connection on the rca/s video in board was meant for anything.
Lots of what ifs with these I just skipped over its kind of fun.
Just need some cheap full 040's and they will be all set.

confirmed it works in OS9 with Paris 2.2 software
very slick, compared to Digidesign TDM; you can apply insert effects without a tracking stopping or skipping.
the 'Control 16' which is connected to the EDS 1000 PCI card via ethernet is super responsive and the fader resolution is far in excess of 7-bit midi. The jog wheel is optical and can be used to scrub audio like a tape recorder.
It sounds much better than Digidesign TDM - which by all accounts, including my own, sounds bad.

AFAIK the 2 RAM slot board is the board used in the LC 580 and Performa 640. It has 2 slots, as well as the GIMO (I/O) ports for the DOS card connectors.
I've heard people saying they've seen the board in LC 630s as well. It typically only had 1 RAM slot and missing the DOS card connectors. I don't know if Apple ever sold the 630 with the 580/640 board, or it just got swapped out by people upgrading over time.

The ones with two slots are somewhat coveted. They can take one dual-banked SIMM and one single-banked, so you can have up to 192 megs of memory, or 196 if counting the 4 megs that comes on the board. 64 and 128 meg SIMMs aren't very expensive these days. Enjoy!
Wasn't this (2 RAM slots) the difference between the Quadra 630 and the Performa 630?
Never saw a badges quadra 630 but I guess it's possible.
Quadra 630 was the best of the bunch, only one SIMM Slot, but a full blown 68040 on board. It would have been nice to have had the DOS Card connections or the extra RAM slot of its DOS compatibile branch of descendents, but they were consumer market machines.
If you wanted Quadra performance, the 630 was the only game in town.
