Developer Note - Powerbook 550c
Do any of you have Quicktakes?
Does anyone know if a Developer Note exists for the Powerbook 550c? I haven't had any luck locating one online and I think it would really help with a few specific questions I have about that model.
The PB550 is a Japanese Only Released 520/540 with I believe a full '040, a faster bus and a black case. If you can find such notes, chances are it would be in Japanese. I'm guessing that your best bet would be for the 520/540 Notes.
550c is too different from 520c/540c for the developer notes to be useful.

Is there a definitive guide to all the DevNote names? I know there's one floating around for the Service Source Titles.
Not of which I'm aware, which makes this search a little more difficult.
Quicktakes do have more/bigger optics than cellular phones do, I would expect better images out of a quicktake than out of most cellphones, at least most phone pictures I've seen.

There's a quicktake 100 at Surplus sales here, I've been thinking of getting it for use with my older macs. I also recently nabbed one of those Quicktime Conferencing Cam 100 things, nifty little NTSC camera, like a 1994-1996 version of the iSight, really meant to go with powermacs, but I may as well try with the 840av, eh?

I've always wanted a QuickTake. The QuickTake 100 is greyscale, right? And the 150 is color? AFAIK, the QuickTake 200 is actually manufactured by a 3rd party and not genuine Apple hardware...
Can the QuickTake be used as a webcam like a QuickCam?

All QuickTakes are colour.
I have an example of each, including the "Quicktake 100 Plus" (which was a motherboard upgrade performed by Apple to bring a 100 to 150 specs).
The 100 and 150 were manufactured by Kyocera I believe, and the 200 by Fuji.
The 100 and 150 can only be used as a still camera (but can be computer controlled as someone has already mentioned).
The 200 software I have only syncs with the camera's media card and doesn't allow video streaming - but others may have seen it.
The Apple Quicktime Conferencing Camera (I've one of those too) was Apple's answer to an Apple badged QuickCam.

All quicktakes are color, the only real different between the 100 and 150 is the firmware in the 150, allowing it to take more pictures. I think it may have slightly more storage too.

The conferencing cam, is an interesting one, it's powered by an svideo port, (linksys router power adaptors also work!!!) and it outputs standard NTSC (to the composite port) video, it's pretty good quality too, and has a tripod mount. (I've got one, there's some interesting ideas on how to use it.

Hmm... Mavica.
Aside from a Quicktake, the other type of retro digicam I'd like is definitely a mavica, followed by anything Kodak.
I would have to say that the Mavica is one thing Sony did right, I've seen a few still being used today, mostly by pc users who have floppy drives.

It might be hard to post pics of your camera (chicken and the egg, and all that), but maybe you could post some pictures you took with the QuickTake...
