Welcome back!
Well, we're back up and running - albeit with a fresh install and in a slightly different location!
Sorry about the huge delay in getting this ship back in the water, but we're back... and hopefully better than ever. You may notice that the forums look a bit different - please bear with me while I get the old template back online. You may also notice that we've lost the last three and a bit years of posts and members. I can only apologise for that, and offer what little explanation I can.
Basically, iPowerWeb pulled the account that the MLA was hosted on. Unfortunately, in doing so, they lost the SQL database. Now we did make occasional backups (but nowhere near as frequently as we should), but as if that wasn't bad enough, these backups are nowhere to be found on our local machines. So, in the end, we've just had to start from scratch!
The latest backup I have personally is from Feb 2006, so we'll try and get that set up as an archive. Of course, if we manage to locate a newer one, we'll get that up.
Anyway, for now, go, explore and I hope you enjoy the new 68kMLA!

It's great that it's finally back online, but it is extremely bad news about the last 3 1/2 years worth of members, posts and threads being lost.
In less than just a year, myself, JDW, and others made huge strides in figuring out kinks with and discussing problems and possible solutions with very valuable and rare compact mac upgrades.
I'm sure other information just as important was lost as well. It really makes me want to cry.

By the way, I was able to get quite a lot of the posts back from Google's cache. I'm also trying to do the same off of archive.org, but it will take a bit of time.
Of course that's going to be in HTML so I'll need to find a way to script a messager chopper so that they can go back into the database, but the odds are good that a lot of it can be recovered.

I never realized how much I liked this place until it was gone.
I noticed a change in this place after we moved last time. So it will be interesting to see what happens this time.

Wow, I used to lurk here all the time, and was up to about 110 posts after three years, which made me seem reasonable. Now, just... uh oh....

Sucks that we had to do another nuke 'n pave, but at least we're back!
My part of the deal is still crapped out though. I'll try some more stuff with the hotline server, such as a mobo/NIC change and a fresh OS install... and I'm also going to do a full HDD backup on that while i'm home this next week. It's a real mess right now. :I

i really missed this place and i'm glad it's back.

I can't believe I didn't see this before, but in responce to Sunder's post I have to wish him luck in recovering a great deal of our posts so they can be thrown in to the archives.
Seeing the Hotline Server back will be great soon as well. I'm not sure what could have gone on with it, because it's still completing the handshaking process successfully, just not synchronization. Good luck with that Quadrajet (dropped the S?).
