So it is a system, with an auto run of some hypercard stacks that spoke. Real history.

That would be awesome to get a copy tho.

Now I started looking and other than the video no one even seems to have asked the question if there was ever a copy.

Yes, its been asked. I think here. There was even discussion of reproducing it. The first consensus was that a 512k board would be needed, no way to run it on a 128k with how little RAM it had.

I think the conversation also discussed the custom video out card created to have the Mac display the demo on the large projector.

Well, its one of those things that at the time seems like just another piece of hardware, with no one knowing how truly significant it would end up being, and how valuable it would be to preserve it for posterity.

I actually totally understand why the owner will not share. It would just become commonplace software. Right now its unique. Thats the problem with software, too easy to duplicate.

Well at least show it booting and doing its thing, and put it on Youtube. It's like having a vintage Ferrari that you don't even look at, let alone anyone else. I get not sharing the file, but at least share the routine with a modern HD recording.

In fact, the value of its original is huge for now, one day we'll probably see en auction on ebay at outrageous starting price... Maybe the next owner will be more selfless and share if not a disk image, at least a youtube video of it

If he waits too long there won't be a 400 k floppy with the ability to prove its that software on that disk.

But whatever to each his own.

they cheated with ram ( 512k )

i wonder if he cheated and used an 800k floppy disk...

or the disk was just an HD20 init

and it had an internal HD20 ...

A 800k MFS disk, maybe but I don't know if sony had double sided drives prototypes at this time...

For the HD20, it's unlikely since the DCD protocol wasn't already invented!

what came first the chicken or the egg? I'm sure the IWM… WOZ being the smart cookie he was… had DCD type thing in mind, after all it is supported in hardware.

It's says what was shown on the screen was from the Mac, they never said the cool theme music was.

I do not know if is clear, but the reproduction I made is freelly available to download. I made a HD20.dsk image for those who have EMU HD20 emulator. So you can boot your Mac directly with it. It needs a 1 MB of RAM like Mac Plus, SE to run.

And not to mention the media will start to degrade over time. That is becoming a big problem with vintage reel-to-reel tapes, the ferric oxide, and other materials used to make the tape is starting to fall apart, flake off, turn into goo.

Floppies are made in much the same way.

What's to understand? Some people are assholes. They like to horde things rather than do the right thing and make information free.

If I had something like that, assuming I didn't pay a small fortune for it, I'd make a disk image of it and let everyone that wanted one have one and to freely distribute the copies they have. Even if I did pay a small fortune, I'd still set up a donation thing and as soon as I got back what I paid for it, I'd release the disk images for free from that point forward.

I just have always hated the idea of keeping things from people just to say I have the only copy. That's just bullshit and being a jerk.

Just tried it... Great work!!!

I copied the contents on a 1440k image (it fits) so I can boot my classic from either emu or real floppy

This is also true of the adhesive holding the splice-tape to the audio tape. I got a box full of 1/4" home-recorded tape a few years ago, and the splices were falling apart on the ones I looked at. The actual material on the tape seemed to be intact, however.

Unfortunately, I've come to find out that everything degrades with age eventually.

Well, that's why were here I guess; to keep things in working order and to learn to repair things that weren't necessarily meant to be repaired.
