Topic 'bumping' anyone else hate it?
You know when a thread that hasn't been posted to since 1999 gets raked from it's grave and you notice it atop the list once more, thinking that it now contains the answer to all lifes important questions only to find that the last post contains only 'bump'?
well, it p!sses me off. i know, i know, i should let it slide. but, if demonhood (or whoever) can get his knickers in twist of the sig 'rules' then i can have my gripes too.
so, anyway anyone else hate it?

bump!
Gad damn I hate it!
The attention seekers over in X-Software and X-General do it all the friggin time, but to their own threads! They start a thread, and if it drifts near the bottom of the page, they "Bump!" it themselves! Man, I wish I had a Banhammer some days...

I feel the same way as you. I just saw a thread that was "bumped". UGH
Whatever. Couldn't care less.

i only like to bump threads when theyre requesting an answer and no one has answered. then you can only give it a few bumps before you give up and assume no one knows the answer.
DIE BUMPERS, DIE!
They thrive in the X/Gen forum. It's like "I know that no one has the answer to my problem, but because I want a big post count, I'll just post here to bump my mundane thread with no answer."
GODDAMN ****TARDS!

I definetely agree it sucks. Threads don't get posted in for a reason, no need to keep them on life support.
I only partly agree. Sometimes users have posted valid technical questions to which no one has replied and then someone does. There is of course a big difference between that and KH's troll posts. I personally see OSX-General as a help area mainly, but a lot of people see it as some sort OSX extension of the Lounge where they can discuss Desktop pictures and stuff. What I really hate is certain people trolling in the OSX area and mucking up threads.
badly phrased question. "anyone else hate it?" implies that if SOMEONE out there besides you doesn't like it, the answer is yes. one may only answer no if he is completely oblivious and believes that EVERYONE else disagrees with you
ANYWAY, technicalities aside, it doesn't bother me

Same as people above, I really HATE bumpers! It's so creative-less.

Hate it? That's an awfully strong term, but I don't think it's appropriate.
Despise? Loathe? Often express a desire to neuter the perpetrators with rusty spoons? That's more like it.

back on topic: ok, I've bumped a thread before, but I SWEAR it involved a technical question for which I was hoping to get answer. Besides, the "point" of a thread in the lounge can do a 180 in a single posts.

heheh, that was definitely one of my favorites [just b/c of all the damn secrecy involved]

This thread has a good chance to live very long, don't you think?
Just too bad it's not about the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.
