wireless card/usb adapter suggestions?
I have a TiBook/500 and an iMac/400. My neighbor has a wireless network setup in his house to his cable modem service. I'd like to get a wireless card or a usb adapter to use in either the TiBook or the iMac and connect to his service, but don't know what to choose that will work. We tried his peecee laptop in my house, and the connection is great! Airport cards are expensive (and won't work in my iMac) but there are a lot of alternatives, just don't know what will work with OSX 10.2 or with Macs at all.
Any suggestions you might have would be very helpful. I've seen the Farallon card and USB adapter (trying to find one on eBay

There are a LOT of products out there that could work for you. The problem is not finding a WiFi (or 802.11b) compliant product, but one that works with the various Mac OS versions. Unfortunately, you will probably pay a premium with most typically Mac-friendly companies like Faralon and such.
Do some online shopping, and look for explicit support for Mac OS 10.2 (or at least OS X) in the product information.
Your TiBook should support just about any PC card wireless card that supports OS 10.2. I don't know why you don't think an AirPort card will work with your iMac-the AppleCare KnowledgeBase says that any 400MHz iMac has an AirPort card slot-internally, of course.
Here's a link to a KnowledgeBase article that lists AirPort Card-compatible iMacs and PowerBooks. It also lists some third party cards for computers without the appropriate internal slot.
The problem with USB adapters is even rougher than with PC card wireless cards; it's hard to impossible to find one that supports Mac OS. Sorry...

the only PCMCIA card 'officially' supported under
OSX is the Cisco 350. All the others
would use the opensource driver (1.0.0b5
wroks under 10.2).

connect to your friends setup.
